We had a chance to meet with EVGA this morning and they had most of their usual stuff on display. What caught our eyes were the latest version of the EVGA Classified SR-2, the SR-X. The EVGA SR-X is a Dual Intel LGA2011 socket motherboard and it will support nearly 100 Gb of memory! The other EVGA Products that caught our eyes were a series of power supplies that EVGA is going to be releasing in 2012!

Today we are taking a look at the latest ‘Pure Black’ X79N motherboard from Sapphire, based around Intel’s enthusiast X79 platform (LGA2011). We have reviewed many Sapphire motherboards in the past and have admired their build quality and overall level of performance, even if their bios configurations have been lagging a little behind industry leaders such as ASUS. We are pairing this motherboard up with Sapphire’s high end AMD HD7970.

Nachdem wir in den letzten Monaten, neben einigen Llano-Platinen, vor allem Sandy-Bridge Boards getestet haben, möchten wir zum Start in das neue Jahr mal wieder den Blick auf einige AM3+ Bretter werfen. Den Anfang macht dabei das Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3.
Die Platine ist mit dem AMD 970 Chipsatz zusammen mit der SB950 ausgerüstet und bietet 6 SATA3, zwei USB3 Ports und 2 Front-USB3 Ports, die über zwei EtronTech EJ168A Controller realisiert werden. Dazu gesellt sich 7.1 HD-Audio, FireWire, GB-Lan und USB 2. In Sachen Erweiterungsslots bietet das Board einen PEG Slot mit 16 Lanes, sowie einen zweiten Slot der nur mit 4 Lanes angebunden ist. Dazu gibt es drei PCIe 1x Slots und zwei PCI Slots.

ASRock have been releasing a wide range of quality motherboards in the last year and can now firmly be recognised as one of the major players in the industry. Today we are looking at their top of the line X79 motherboard, entitled the ‘Extreme 9′. This board is fully loaded and is marketed to compete against flagship products from companies such as Asus, MSI and Gigabyte. We are testing today with the Intel Core i7 3960X Extreme Edition processor, 16GB of 2,133mhz memory and Nvidia GTX590 running in a Quad SLI configuration.
