If the lack of support for integrated graphics doesn't bother you, Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 is a good and promising choice. It stands out among typical mid-end solutions by having richer functionality (two USB 3.0 and two additional SATA 6Gbps controllers), comes with a lot of software utilities, and you don't have to pay for extra hardware features you might not need. Also, the Touch BIOS adds nice variety to all those implementations of UEFI.
The much riled and awaited Sandy Bridge platform and Cougar Point chipset were released at the beginning of January, signalling the start of a dominant new era for Intel. Indeed, with AMD’s upcoming Bulldozer lineup still in the process of rolling out, Intel theoretically had six months to saturate and hold a firm grip in the consumer market. The timing could not have been better; a new year, the start of a new decade, and a new architecture released during the holiday season, a time when most consumers are ready to spend their saved up money on a new build, or upgrade. The pieces were in place...but not all of them fell in the right places.
Gigabyte are widely regarded as one of the biggest computer component manufacturers in the world, especially in the motherboard market. They cater for all of the latest AMD and Intel platforms including AM3, socket 1156, 1155 and 1366 and with Sandy Bridge taking over, we still believe that 1366 has some life left in it.
For quite some time, Intel has been unopposed in the low budget computing department. From the first underclocked Intel Celeron powered Eee PC, to the latest generation of Intel Atom based computers, this whole sector of the market has been dominated by Intel. The major competitors have tried to get a share of the market before with VIA's Nano and AMD's Athlon Neo, but both have failed in this perilous quest. Most of the problems with these two processors were their availability, interest from consumers and manufacturers, and, for the latter part, power draw and heat. With these processors, the incumbent was basically unmoved and still left with the majority of this market sector. Despite these setbacks, AMD had tried yet again to break into this market. Today, we have one of the first few Brazos based motherboards from Jetway. Jetway is known mostly for their commercial and industrial products, but since the Mini-ITX fad, more and more users are taking a serious look at Jetway. Well today, we managed to get our hands on the Jetway NF81-T56N-LF -- which has an AMD Fusion processor with built-in graphics. It is similar to that of the Intel Atom D525, but they provide an integrated AMD Radeon HD 6310 instead. The processor itself is the AMD eOntario T56N, which is said to perform similar or better in comparison with the Intel Atom D525, and it isn't even the top of the line in the Brazos line of CPUs. So without further adieu, let's take a look at how well the AMD Brazos based Jetway NF81-T56N-LF performs against the well established duo of Intel Atom and NVIDIA's ION 2.

While a lot of the recent motherboard news has come from the Intel Z68 chipset and the new AMD 990FX one, the original Sandy Bridge P67 chipset from Intel is still very dominant on the market. If you have a look at Newegg, you'll find around 50 P67 based motherboard for sale while the Z68 sits around the 20 mark. A lot of the P67 boards are also in stock; they're not simply just listed. For that reason the P67 chipset is still an important one for companies as they continue to move stock.
