The majority of users that select an H67-equipped board do so to take advantage of Intel HD graphics built into Sandy Bridge processors and thus, won't be using a high-end graphics card or really any other add-in cards. Builds where a Micro ATX board would be suitable include home theater PCs and small form factor builds where a small footprint is needed. A quick check at Newegg revealed only three full size ATX H67 boards, one of them being the board we are taking a look at today, the Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H.
After looking at the P67-UD7 board from Gigabyte, we were left with a feeling of excitement and joy knowing that we had a fantastic product at our disposal, and we assumed that nothing better could come along. Whilst that feeling was great, it was also short lived quick quickly.
So far, MSI has released only two motherboards based on the new Intel Z68 chipset, one for the mainstream market (Z68MA-ED55, Micro-ATX, USD 160), and one for the high-end market (Z68A-GD80, USD 240). Let's take a look at the MSI Z68A-GD80 (B3).
As the days go on we find ourselves with more and more Z68 based boards arriving in our labs for us to look at. The latest today is from ASUS and carries with it the P8Z68-V Pro model name. We didn't preview any ASUS boards prior to the Z68 launch, so we'll be looking at what exactly is on offer from the P8Z68-V Pro. We'll get straight into the package to see what is going on there before we have a look at the motherboard itself.
Over the past couple of months, we've taken a look at plenty of small form factor motherboards from some big brands including Asus, Gigabyte and Jetway, and they have all been designed with an all-in-one solution in mind. This is where we saw the likes of Intel Atom and more importantly AMD Fusion take its place in the market, and quite rightly so.
Back at CES (during the G1-Killer launch) we were shown something pretty special; besides the G1 we mean. While Tim Handley was telling us about the virtues of the G1-Killer line-up, he flashed us a picture of a new board that was still under development. This was an early image of the X58A-OC. The concept was a streamlined product intended just for overclocking and performance.
You can't go on the internet these days without seeing some information on Intel, AMD and their latest products. With Intel it's all about Sandy Bridge and their upcoming offering of Ivy Bridge, whilst AMD has potential fantastic products in the pipeline but are still hot on releasing slightly "cut-down" versions if you will.
We saw the initial release of AMD Fusion a few months back which saw the pure potential behind AMD's latest technology of fusing a CPU and GPU together to form an APU. Whilst this was fine for light usage in terms of HTPC and server systems, it wasn't aimed at a mainstream market. Enter Llano!
Llano is a new range of products from AMD and their partners which harnesses the technology saw in the original Fusion range but features a higher clock speed and higher range built-in graphics. Due to this it's market is slightly different and whilst being perfect for HTPC usage, users should be able to experience the technology on a mainstream level with the inclusion of gaming.
Today sees us putting the F1A75-M Pro motherboard from Asus through its paces to see what performance can be unlocked from these new APU's and what is on offer in terms of features from this leading motherboard manufacturer.
Now that the all mighty NDA has lifted on the new Llano platform, we're able to bring to you all those motherboards that support the new APU from AMD. Today we'll be looking at the GIGABYTE A75-UD4H. We have already reviewed several 990FX motherboards, but today we are looking at one of the latest boards from Gigabyte, the Bulldozer supporting 990 FXA-UD7. The UD7 series has a great reputation among enthusiast users, so we have high expectations today that this will continue the success story for Gigabyte.
