Asus’s Sabertooth motherboards have proven popular since their inception a number of generations ago. Based on their widespread popularity it comes as no surprise that The Ultimate Force (TUF) motherboards are making an appearance for the ‘future Intel chipset’. A number of the upcoming chipset’s specifications help bolster the feature-set Asus implements on its TUF series motherboard.

A while back Europes' media was invited to visit the lovely city of Amsterdam. At the Club Excellence, right in the heart of the popular neighborhood, the ASUS team unveiled it's new Intel 4th generation motherboard lineup. Based on Intel's Z87 chipset, the mainstream motherboard lineup got a complete overhaul in the looks department. Gold is the brand new 2013 theme, while being promoted as original, we have seen this color scheme before on several competitors boards. Look wise it seems a missed opportunity, but luckily there's more below the surface. The ROG lineup get's a new addition in the shape of the HERO version. Similar with the TUF series, were the Gryphoon mATX which sees the daylight. Sadly we are still under NDA, so remaining pretty limited to disclose most of the new innovative features. All we can do is list the basic specifications and leave you with some first impressions and event pictures.

At its annual tech summit held a couple of weeks ago, ASUS talked in great detail about what's coming to its X79 mobo line-up. Certain NDA's have not yet lifted, but we can talk about a few of the new things ASUS is introducing, and also take an early look at four of the company's X79 motherboards.

The ASUS Sabretooth lineup always has been part of a little controversy. Some had no idea why the TUF series ever had to be made. Claiming high Durability and Reliability. So the other ASUS boards were inferior then in build quality ? Wouldn't they survive the torture test that the Sabretooth series do ? I've had the Sandybridge P67 version for internal testing and must say that it was a joy to work with. Even when benching with LN2, the board remained hassle free. It was no surprise that with the launch of Sandy Bridge-E another Sabretooth would appear on the market. Today we are gonna have a look at the latest addition to the TUF series : The Sabretooth X79.
