Today, we are able to retire our Intel Core i7 2600K processor from our motherboard test bench! Intel has officially launched the Intel 22nm 'Ivy Bridge' series of processors! Nate will be taking an in-depth look at the Intel Core i7 3770K 22nm processor architecture and performance which you can find here. We will be looking at the performance of four different Intel Z77 motherboards with an Intel Core i7 3770K 22nm 'Ivy Bridge' processor...

I've sometimes thought that Intel tries too hard with its enthusiast level motherboards. The Extreme series, which is what Intel seeds reviewers with when new CPUs are introduced, tend to "shout" with prominent skull logos, POST code readouts, POST sequence LEDs, and other bling, but in my experience they fall down badly on features and performance. So you can understand that I wasn't expecting too much from the DZ77GA-70K motherboard. But I was in for a surprise.

It's time for a new Intel chipset: the Z77 Express chipset replaces last year's Z68 chipset and its predecessor P67 chipset. Aside from the support for what MSI calls "third generation Intel Core processors", the Z77 brings some enhanced features like native SuperSpeed USB 3.0. MSI's not satisfied with letting the Z77 stand on its own, though, and adds its own unique features to their MSI Z77A-GD65 board. Benchmark Reviews tests this new motherboard and compares its performance and features against a top-end Z68 motherboard. Is an upgrade for your rig warranted? Read on...

At the beginning of May we reviewed the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H which delivered great performance at a modest price point around £160. Today we are looking at the budget GA-Z77-D3H which retails in the UK for only £80.
At half the price is this useless for the overclockers on a tight budget, or can it be pushed past 4ghz? What about 4.5ghz? We partner the board up with a Core i7 3770k and a Thermaltake Frio Extreme cooler.

The Gigabyte Sniper.M3 is the m-ATX motherboard up for review today. The Sniper.M3 is obviously part of Gigabytes G1-Killer series and is their first micro ATX to it as well. The Sniper.M3 is a small and powerful board, housing top exclusive Gigabyte features such as the new 3D BIOS (Dual UEFI), Gigabyte 3D Power and many more...

Intel’s X79 platform has been out for a little while now. This platform is the real high-end when it comes to gaming and CPU-intensive tasks. ASUS has quite a few different X79 motherboards to choose from. Today we will be taking a look at their P9X79 Pro Motherboard. This board sits in the middle of ASUS’s P9X79 boards with the P9X79 LE ($229) and P9X79 ($259) boards being below it and the P9X79 Deluxe ($359) and P9X79 WS ($379) being at the high end. With a price point of $299 the P9X79 Pro sits right in the middle. The board features quad-channel memory support, an all digital power design, SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0 support, ASUS’s UEFI BIOS, ASUS SSD caching and much more. Read on as we take a look…

The Hi-Fi Z77X is the latest motherboard from Biostar targeted to the "Ivy Bridge" processors (third-generation Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors). Its main highlight is the presence of a sophisticated audio configuration. Let's explore this product.

Intel’s third generation Core integrated processor graphics (IPG) chip, aka Ivy Bridge (IVB), got off to a slow start for us with a set of high-end CPUs not really intended for the home theater PC (HTPC). We still do not have one of the low power Core i3/i5 with HD4000 graphics on hand; now that they are available, H77 based Mini ITX motherboards are much more interesting since the updated platform controller hub (PCH) is required to fully utilize new features like PCIe 3.0 and DDR3-1600. There are several options to choose from, but none include the HTPC specific features like Windows Media Center infrared and HDMI CEC support via specialized headers and third-party hardware like the Intel Media Series DH77DF paired today with 65W Intel Core i7-3770S and i5-2400S IPGs. Not content to differentiate only on those features, it also offers mSATA via a Mini PCIe slot and Firewire (IEEE1394a) and addresses a traditional shortcoming in Intel’s previous Mini ITX boards – support for 95W TDP CPUs.
