ASUS’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) line of motherboards has been going strong for a few years now. ROG boards are made for the gamer and enthusiast having the features that these users would want. The board we are taking a look at today is no different. The Rampage IV Formula features 4-way SLI / CrossFireX support, ASUS’s own SupremeFX III audio, Intel Ethernet, ASUS’s ROG connect technology, support for quad channel memory up to 2400 MHz, and so much more. The Rampage IV Formula is positioned between the Rampage IV Extreme at the high-end and the Rampage IV Gene which is ASUS’s mATX version of this board. Today is the day when we get to lift the lid one of the biggest NDA's of the year and frankly one that has taken over my life due to it being so in-depth. The NDA revolves around the new Intel X79 chipset, which is their latest platform to run the new and awaited Sandy Bridge-E range of processors. With a new chipset and new set or processors, comes a new range of boards and in typical fashion, Asus are ready for launch with their latest Republic of Gamers board; the Rampage IV Extreme.

With the launch of the Intel X79 based motherboards approaching very soon, certain models have been long awaited and of course, the main suspect is part of the Republic of Gamers range of boards from Asus. These things aside, we like them because each board is designed and tuned for the hardware it intends to support.

The Rampage IV Extreme. We've already looked at it in preview form and the board looks the goods. It's also been the main board that's behind our 3960X launch coverage for the simple reason it looks to be one of the best available come launch day. Since everything is already sitting so nicely in the Rampage IV Extreme, it seemed like the perfect motherboard to look at first up. The ROG line of boards have a strong past and having already previewed the Rampage IV Extreme, it's pretty fair to say that they're going to have a strong future.
