With X79 arriving onto the scene, the high-end market has been filled and is something that only the insanely rich can afford. Z68 can still be expensive too, when we look at the likes of the G1 Sniper 2 board which is pricey, but does offer a lot of features that no other board on the market can offer such as X-Fi sound and a Killer NIC onboard chip.
Gigabyte have been hard at work with the upcoming launch of the Z68 platform from Intel, and we thought we'd just straight in there to show you a preview of one of the boards that we have at the eTeknix labs.
After looking at the P67-UD7 board from Gigabyte, we were left with a feeling of excitement and joy knowing that we had a fantastic product at our disposal, and we assumed that nothing better could come along. Whilst that feeling was great, it was also short lived quick quickly.
One of the first motherboards we received after the Sandy Bridge launch the Gigabyte P67A-UD7 and we almost instantly fell in love with the board. Sadly were we unable to get the review posted before the worldwide chipset recall but we did spend a considerable amount of time tweaking and tuning the board and even posted some very impressive numbers for the HWBot team.
GIGABYTE has been extremely aggressive with the new Z68 chipset and it's very much out with the old and in with the new. Over the past few weeks the GIGABYTE Z68 boards have been the ones to show up a lot in corner stores for sale. And after hearing that they hope to achieve 80% of channel stocking at launch, it makes sense.
Just before the launch of the Intel Z68 chipset, we had the opportunity to preview the Z68X-UD7-B3 and Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboards in Taiwan.
