Having Broadcom's 5G Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac chips on-board, The R6300 is capable of delivering speeds of up to 1300Mbps when connected to other 802.11ac devices, and speeds of up to 450Mbps when connected to 802.11n devices. Some have suggested that it has, "a face that only a mother could love," but, personal preferences aside, the design of the R6300 is not indicative of this router's performance and capability. It is packed with great features, such as READYshare, that are designed to address your personal and professional wireless needs. This should offer significantly better throughput than a 802.11n network, theoretically up to around 1,300 MB/s. We are very interested to see how the Netgear R6300 fares in our tests.

The Netgear R6300 is the first 802.11ac router we are reviewing.As the first router of a new generation, the Netgear R6300 can definitely be called a success. Granted, 1.3 Gbps is still quite a way away, but there are clear performance gains compared to 802.11n. Speeds of up to 500 Mbps are possible with this router, and also at longer distances the 802.11ac outperforms 802.11n comfortably.
