Today ASRock are back with their latest mini-PC, the Vision 3D. Based on Intel's H55 chipset and NVIDIA's Fermi based GT425M graphics this model gives consumers a simple way to add a Blu-Ray 3D based HTPC to their home cinema. Today we put that system through a selection of real world tests including Blu-Ray 3D playback, media encoding and gaming to establish if this system offers more than just 3D capability.

There's much to get excited about with Samsung's 52" LN52A850S1F LCD HDTV, commonly known as the 'A850'. For starters this LCD HDTV ups the ante with the ability to play movies/music/pictures directly from a USB mass storage device or over a home network connection and it's screen is less than 2" thick, making it one of the thinnest large screen TV's out there. For those of you obsessed with specs and numbers, Samsung's A850-series stacks up like this: the 52" diagonal LCD screen boats a contrast ratio of 70,000:1 (dynamic), a brightness value of 500nits, industry standard viewing angles of 178/178 (horizontal/vertical), and a 4ms pixel refresh rate. The LN52A850S1F has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and can maintain both 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. It's ATSC digital TV tuner picks up over the air signals without any additional hardware, and the screen boasts no fewer than four HDMI inputs.

Samsung's 5-Series NP540U3C-A01 Ultrabook is the first laptop to cross PCSTATS test bench with Windows 8 installed and a touch screen. Our first impressions of the new interface are positive - poking at the screen with ones fingers easily compliments the keyboard and touchpad to really bring out the best in Microsoft Windows 8 and crack open a whole new world of applications. The touch screen interface is intuitive to learn, landing Samsung's NP540U3C-A01 ultrabook functionally somewhere between a sup'ed-up tablet and laptop.

The Asus RT-N12 is a simple, affordable way to add a router to any SOHO network. For $40 it brings a lot to the table including a user-friendly interface, strong wireless coverage, router/AP/repeater mode switching, and the ability to create up to four SSID's. If you don't need dual-band access or USB ports, this router is a solid choice that can be up and running in no time.

Speed isn't everything of course. A monitor still needs to have decent colour rendering and be reasonably priced. The BenQ XL2420T is far from cheap, but you can adjust the height, rotate it, and it comes with many connectors and an integrated USB hub. In terms of response times, it scores the best. It has a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the other test results are also very good.

Don't have a TiVo? Cable DVR just doesn't cut it? Is the ASUS My Cinema-EHD3-100 card your answer? The ability to watch and record both digital (ATSC/QAM) and analog (NTSC) TV channels at the same time, along with an embedded MPEG2 hardware encoder on the card to reduce CPU load while recording, all add up to an attractive package.
