While some people may choose to let the price of a monitor determine which model they'll buy, some choose to dive a little deeper and base the purchase on the panel the model has opted for. Ultimately we've got two choices; TN which tends to favour gamers and people on a budget, and IPS for those who want higher quality and are happy to pay a little more for it.

Today we look at their latest model the Playon! DVR HD which includes 2 Digital TV (DVB-T) Tuners so you can watch and record different channels at the same time. This unit supports both MPEG2 and newer MPEG4 H.264 DVB-T Broadcast standards, meaning this is a universal system compatible with every country.

Multiple monitors, they’re a wonderful thing. I’ve gone from one, then to two and now I run four on my main computer and I love every minute of it. It allows you to just get so much more done with work, but it allows you to enjoy your entertainment as well. One small issue with running multiple monitors is the cost for multiple videos cards or a high end card with many outputs on it. Sure you can get less expensive cards, but it’s not worth it, at least I don’t think it is. Today for review I’ve got a new product from Cirago that allows you to connect three monitors to your computer using a single Displayport connection. It’s called the HydraDisplay X3 and it’s very simple to use, truly plug and play. You might think something like this would require a lot of power but it doesn’t it uses the power from a regular USB port only, so there’s no adapter needed to run it. So let’s check it out…

Ahh, the humble ROM drive. Really, it's probably one of the lesser items that don't get the same attention as some other components in the system, but it's also one of the more important components. Today we're looking at an external one from Plextor and we've got to say, external ones are playing a bit more importance these days due to the fact that we're seeing so many laptops and netbooks with no ROM drive at all.

The computer has become increasingly more important to entertainment in the home then it ever has before. So much, that it’s sparked the coming Internet TV revolution. Consumers want to be able to do everything they love to do on their computers straight from their TV. Imation’s Link can act as a bridge to carry us into the highly anticipated Internet TV era. It could provide us with the entrainment flexibility we’ve been aching for.

I know that most people who overclock don't consider that their memory is going to get that hot under stress, and with my first couple of kits of DDR3 I was in that boat. Doing the usual finger test under loaded conditions, I always assessed a cooler running temperature than what my DDR2 would run at. Times have changed and more and more manufacturers are pushing the ICs to either higher levels of speed, or tightening the timings as far as they can go to offer better performance to the end user. Now I run my memory pretty fast normally, and I tend to try to keep my DDR3 at around 2400 MHz for day to day usage. With that, I did start to notice the ICs were warming up, and double checking with my IR thermometer, I was slightly surprised to see 45° or above during the toughest stresses.
