I do know that having a site being purchased spells eventual doom. VoodooExtreme was recently canned by IGN, and a few affiliate tech sites like motherboards.org have changed leadership when the owners sold their rights away.

For many people the very reason theynever even consider MAC based systems is the high price tag that comesalong with buying one. I started off building very simple Hackintoshsystems for my friends on a budget, but when it came time to build one formy studio I decided to design one that has lots of power and was also assilent as possible in an effort to totally blow away any off the shelf MacPro and the results were better than expected resulting in a GeekBenchscore of 16271, higher than a $5000.00 Dual XEON system for under $1700.00.We called the system the Blackintosh and here are all the parts we used inour build. The system is running stable overclocked to 4.5GHz using aclosed loop water cooler by Thermaltake. Check out this build its one forthe record books!!!

In this followup to part 1, we'll be going over the remaining components that are essential to building a system from scratch. Grab your thinking cap and your anti-static wrist strap, and let's get started!

I can build a computer with no problem. I've been doing it for years. But a Media Center is a whole nother animal. It is, as the name implies, all about the media. Games are entirely possible, but why waste the drive space? I planned on ripping my DVDs of Rob & Big and hitting up Fancast.com on the regular. So obviously I had to make this thing WiFi enabled to access the web. It had to have a DVD-R on it. Lightscribe would have been cool, but who really needs more than one of those in their house? So the Lightscribe is out. I searched around my office for anything that would give me a decent start at a media center without having to dump a ton of money into it. (We are in a recession, after all.)

Recently AMD set us the challenge of building a low cost APU system to see if it would be possible to build a decent media/productivity/gaming PC on a minimal budget. It's something different to a review which is always a nice change so we set about looking at what could be done when pretty much every component has to cost £60 or less.

Over the past few years, The SSD Review has enjoyed a fairly smooth ride with little to complain about. It wasn’t until our readership explosion that we realized how important backups were. There is nothing worse than a site crash, other than a site crash which also contains a Forum of course. The sudden loss of days, weeks, months and even years’ worth of data cannot arguably be equal to that of valuable Forum members who hate seeing their threads gone. It happened.

A few months ago we posted an article titled, “Building a Silent HTPC”. The article featured a collaboration of manufacturers and online shops, each showcasing a product or two as part of a full system build. Based on the overwhelming success of that article, we have decided to do another full build; this time, we are putting together a performance / gaming PC. Based on Intel’s Core i7 CPU, we will construct a system that both performance enthusiasts and gamers alike would be proud to call their own.

Kids today have more adult freedoms and priveledges than any prior generation. Add to that all of the unwarranted privacy they receive, and you'll see that any parent should be concerned about what their kids are doing online. It's in the news every week: some teenager who has committed suicide over Internet Bullying, kids being listed as sex offenders for broadcasting naked photos of themselves. And don't even get me started on how anonynimity emboldens angry teens to behave in aggressive, rude, and socially reprehensible ways... especially when many families today only have one parent in the house. Do you think kids would act this way if they knew someone was watching?
