Chillblast may not be as well renowned – or as infamous – as Overclockers or Scan, but they’ve been around the block enough to know the game and they’re well established as a solid, affordable gaming system builder. Today we take a look at another of their setups, this one that provides the full 3D experience: monitor, glasses and GPU. It’s got a Sandybridge i5 CPU too.
The Chieftec BL-01B Bravo L-Type case with VESA monitor mount surprised me. I was expecting it to be just another gimmick to try to get attention. While the design of the case is not for everybody, I can see many places where this would be perfect; a college dorm, a small apartment, virtually any place that you are restricted by space.

These TV's were $500 when they first came out! The packaging is adequate and nice looking in the usual Sony fashion, but we ran in to an odd problem while unboxing the TV. It zapped me! It seems like whatever packing foam Sony used created a static charge on the TV itself. Actually, it zapped me twice and quite hard. ITs not that big of deal, just an odd way to start off a new product purchase.

The form factor has changed significantly as well, to a sleek device around the size of most modern home theater “streamers,” but the functionality promised (i.e. small, quiet, efficient MCX) when used with WMC has not. This is an important point to note when examining the Echo on its own, because much of the previous coverage also included mention of Ceton’s Q (a TiVo like device) which, had it survived the summer, could have provided additional capability beyond what is possible from the standard MCX experience. With firmware releases bringing new functionality and fixes every few days it has proved difficult to nail down a definitive snapshot of the Echo’s long term capabilities; as retail availability is now upon us it is time to build on our first look and provide a current state update for the device.

We have done it at each of the other technology shows with resounding success and thought we might tackle it once again at CeBIT 2012 in Hannover. We think you might agree that there is one thing that simply cannot be overlooked as we travel CeBIT, this being European beauty.
