Sicherlich werden wir hier kein 3D-Feuerwerk in UltraHD-Auflösung erleben, aber diesen Anspruch wollen wir heute auch nicht bestärken, sondern einmal schauen, ob selbst ein solches System, das so viel kostet wie so manche Grafikkarte, in der Lage ist mehr oder weniger aktuelle Spiele in FullHD, sprich 1.080p, wiederzugeben.
Yesterday we took a look at the raw performance of the Cryo PC Alto HTPC. Today it’s more about the usage experience. I won’t lie to you, it’s going to get subjective and opinionated, but that’s what makes these types of reviews that much more fun.
Cryo PC are one of the gaming system manufacturers plugging away in the shadow of the giants, but they seem to put together some nice pieces of kit; for not too high a price either. Today we're looking at a machine called the Tetrad, which promises good performance, in a quiet and well put together machine. Not everyone is comfortable building a performance computer from scratch, so from time to time we ask for certain systems to be sent into our labs for analysis. One of our favourite UK system builders are Cryo Performance Computing, based in Bucks in England. When I first reviewed one of their systems years ago it was like a breath of fresh air, because I knew immediately that these guys really do know how to make a killer computer.
The systems they are making are based around Clevo chassis and they range from the £1,395 Mercia to the £2,995 Iceni. Rather than focus on the high end model we though it would be more interesting to review the Mercia entry level unit - after all this is the model which is going to get the most sales.

It's functional, reasonably powerful for most tasks, handles all administrative chores I have thrown at it with ease and all while having a battery life of over 7 hours with normal use. You couldn't have asked for more. The LED backlit screen is bright, the keys are set apart enough to allow for a very easy typing experience even if you have fat fingers like myself, and the trackpad is a pleasure to use.
