Es weihnachtet bei Hardwareluxx. Nachdem nun schon seit einigen Tagen unser Adventskalender online ist und jeden Tag aufs Neue mit interessanten Preisen lockt, wollen wir heute pünktlich zum ersten Advent unsere alljährlichen Weihnachtsempfehlungen vorstellen. Welche Produkte haben uns in den letzten Monaten am meisten beeindruckt, welche Produkte sind wirklich empfehlenswert? Auf den kommenden Seiten listen wir die Must-Haves der einzelnen Bereiche auf und schaffen es hoffentlich den ein oder anderen Wunschzettel zu inspirieren.
Am 25.7. werden in Berlin, Köln und Karlsruhe Demonstrationen unter dem Motto "Wir sind Gamer - Demonstration für Spielkultur" stattfinden, die sich gegen ein Verbot von sogenannten "Killerspielen" und gegen eine Kriminalisierung der Spieler aussprechen.

If you want an all-in-one with a large, beautiful IPS display with a nice resolution of 2560x1440, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg? Then there isn't a whole lot of choice. Apple has the 27-inch iMac, and HP has the even more expensive Z1 workstation, but now Dell has entered the fray with the more affordable XPS 27, also called the XPS 2710. And it's an excellent all-in-one. The beautiful 27-inch IPS display has outstanding colors, and the high 2560x1440 resolution makes it a great computer to work with.
Today we have the XPS 8300 based on H67 and 2nd Generation Core CPUs (SandyBridge). With prices starting at £429/$699 the XPS 8300 is advertised as offering great multi-tasking performance and decent gaming/media features. Let's find out if Dell has achieved that.

So phones start to become something else at around 5-6inches but when does a tablet become something more? Today we look at a device which Dell market as a 'Portable All in One Desktop', the XPS 18. Is it a desktop though... or is it just about the biggest (and most powerful) tablet out there?
Dell has become a dominant force in the monitor market for the simple reason being that they offer sensational displays at competitive prices. Looking at the paperwork, the U2711 has everything you want from a monitor, with the highlight being massive desktop real estate thanks to the 2560 x 1440 resolution on the IPS Panel. Other niceties include 80:000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 350 cd/m2, 6ms response time and 1.07 billion colour support.
The U series of Dell monitors have become quite a hit. And honestly, it's for good reason. While the IPS panel does indeed have drawbacks, it's also a clear winner in some areas. One of the most recent models to carry with it an IPS panel is the new U2311H.
