Today for review I’ve got one of the newest products from EagleTech that really doesn’t have any fancy name, it’s simply called the Neptor External Battery Pack. There are a few things that separate this portable battery pack from others on the market today. The first of them being the rather large 10,000mAh battery that’s inside of it that can charge most anything from phones to tablets. The second thing, and one of the most important I think, is the battery is user replaceable. The third thing that separates this from others out there is the fact that you don’t need any special tips or adapters, so there’s no additional cost. Some battery packs on the market are pricey initially, but then you have to go and spend more money on different tips for all the devices you would like to charge. You can easily end up spending close to or as much as the battery pack itself just on tips. The Neptor battery pack works very well at charging basically anything that can be charged over USB without the need for adapters and it has two USB ports, one with 2.1a and one with .5a output. So read on to learn more about what I think is one of the best portable power solutions on the market today…

The external hard drive market has grown quickly with vast amounts of data needing to be moved from one system to another that a USB drive simply cannot handle. The preferred connection method is now by far eSATA with its greater performance namely for read and write speeds. However, many users still require the older USB 2.0 connection as their cases do not allow for easy eSATA usage and so most enclosures offer both connections. Today, we take a look at an enclosure focused purely on the older connection; with the focus solely on the USB outlet, will it be able to punch above its weight and produce some good results? Let’s take a look…

While we still believe that the best system is the one you build yourself there are other options for those with the knowledge and knowhow but lack the time and dedication required to put together the perfect system. For situations like this we can turn to boutique builders like E3iO for a solution.

We were brought over to the Samsung Smart TV that was connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable and loaded with Gaikai’s online gaming app that is needed for access to the NVIDIA GeForce GRID cloud gaming platform. A few seconds later we were playing Meteor Entertainment’s new mech warrior game Hawken from a data center about 10 miles away in the heart of LA. Keep in mind we were doing this with just a TV and the remote control as the hardware running the game was miles away...

If you’re like me you probably don’t think of a computer chair as something that should provide comfort, you consider it a necessary piece of furniture that allows you to interface with your system

The DXG USA DXG-595V is a good entry level camera that offers some desired features for those looking for "point and shoot" simplicity. For a low cost camera, I was very pleased with the performance. It is extremely easy to use and produces decent video for the price. The still images it produces are good under optimal lighting, and can be taken at up to 5.0 megapixels.

Standalone hardware media players have been around for around 5 years (and some of you know that I’ve been putting them through rigorous tests right from the beginning) but they really started to make DVD and Blu-Ray players obsolete roughly a couple of years ago when people started to realize that they can have the basic functionality of an dedicated HTPC system (mainly media file playback, file sharing and web surfing) at just a fraction of the cost and in many cases with superior image quality. Now looking back a few months i really can't remember when was the last time we had a hardware/network media player on our test bench so when a courier arrived at our door just over a week ago holding the latest TV-303D Universal FullHD Network Media Player by Dune HD i felt somewhat relieved to be on the receiving end of a newly released device which is not directly related to PC and smartphones.
