Let’s take a break from the CES stuff for a review. Up for review today I’ve got another product from Verbatim and it’s another card reader but this one is USB 3.0. I have to wonder about this as memory cards really aren’t that fast so how much of a difference is it really going to make going from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0? The Verbatim USB 3.0 Universal Card Reader is nice looking and it can read most any type of cards out there. It’s a card reader so it’s not exactly one of the most exciting things out there, but it does have it’s place in our digital lives.

The FC10 is a powerful 4-channel fan controller from Lamptron, featuring a cool Nixie tube display and can be controlled via remote after it has finished the initial self-test. The antenna module is attached as a daughterboard onto the PCB of the controller and the included cables are fully braided for better durability and looks.

There are many choices for wireless broadband out there, but none, at the moment, as fast as the new 4G service that Verizon Wireless is now offering. Today for review I’ve got the new Pantech UML290 4G USB Modem and it’s fast, seriously fast, it gives you the speeds you want when and where you want them. The UML290 though is a bit on the large side, but you might forgive the size for the speeds you’ll get.

This flexibility is also its problem. After six years in the business, as hundreds of other social networking sites and virtual worlds have been developed, thrived, failed, and molded, Second Life has yet to delineate its presence in the Web 2.0 and virtual world markets. Second Life still doesn’t seem to know what it’s for.

The ASUS PCE-AC66 802.11ac wireless PCIe adapter is currently the only wireless adapter I know of, that allows you to experience the wonders of 3-Stream IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi. It won’t be the last, for sure, because the gains in wireless throughput are too good to pass up. There are several significant changes in the new 802.11ac standard, and upping the maximum allowable number of spatial streams is one of them. Theoretically, eight individual streams are supported by 802.11ac, but the new chips from Broadcom top out at three streams on a single IC. That’s enough to push 1.3Gbps across the airwaves on the 5GHz Wi-Fi band, which is probably where the consumer devices will stay. There are several wireless adapters on the market that are capable of handling two streams, but right now the PCE-AC66 is alone at the top of the 802.11ac heap, with three streams and the data rates to match.

Apple's new iPad has caused some big ripples in the world of technology. The iPad seems to be a new category of high tech devices. It isn't a phone. It isn't a laptop. It isn't a netbook. Now that we've ascertained what the iPad isn't, in this review we will investigate just what the iPad really is and how it performs.

Doch was taugt dieses Sonderangebot wirklich?
