I currently have a prototype Hauppauge Colossus HD PVR in my development HTPC and wanted to start a Q\A thread here at Missing Remote. Note, I am using a prototype board so my experience may vary slightly from the production boards but not significantly. So far it has been stable. I am using two boards, one with digital audio and the other with stereo audio to compare and track potential stability differences. There are four inputs. 1- HDMI; 2- A dongle that provides either component video + analog audio or composite video + analog audio; 3- TOSLINK SPDIF (digital optical) input; 4- IR receiver (shared with the IR blaster).

The home networking market is one that is booming with technology, but is quite stagnant in terms of aesthetics. If you look things over you really are getting the same shell even if you get more features or more speed from your choice of router. It has gotten so bad lately that many people are not bothering to worry about "what it looks like" anymore. For us it has become like trying to describe cereal boxes. It is very difficult to find something new with each product we test. True, sometimes you get a flashy LCD screen, or different color lights, but that is about it.

Read on to find out what we thought of the player and this unique streaming model.

The BlacX 5G is a welcomed upgrade to USB 3.0 from the BlacX Duet which was just USB 2.0. gives you the ability to hot swap out SATA drives and gives you the speed of having the SATA drive connected via a SATA cable to the motherboard. This is a welcomed upgrade to all those I.T. techs who deal with stacks of hard drives and need to search multiple drives for misplaced data or image drives quickly.

I have news for you, the days of large computers taking up your desk, floor, or entertainment center are long gone. A lot of case manufacturers have made good money making small form factor PC enclosures and the seeming limited motherboard supply is catching up. Some PC manufacturers have already started to take advantage of the newer technology and have released products that not only perform on par with today's standard desktops, they look fantastic and they take up very little space. Low Carbon PC aims to take this one step further by putting together eco-friendly systems that use little power but deliver big on performance, while looking rather stylish at the same time. If Low Carbon PC is able to deliver on all of these, then your trips to the computer store to buy individual components may be coming to an end.

I mulled over multiple options for nearly a week before deciding that I wanted to install a PC in place of the current setup. A computer would allow me to add all of my MP3s as well as replace the unsightly TV / VCR combo. The PC would open up nearly all types of digital video formats as well which would certainly come in handy for passengers during a road trip.
