The whole idea behind Gigabyte’s BRIX ultra compact PC kit’s are to give you a functional PC with an extremely small form factor. This makes them perfect for a media or internet machine. Their small size means you can put them pretty much anywhere as well. While the BRIX systems have been out for a while the BRIX projector is a newer product that takes a BRIX ultra compact PC Kit and adds a micro-projector for a complete and very cool setup. It is actually quite impressive that Gigabyte has been able to fit a projector right on top of the BRIX, making it not much larger than the normal version. The Gigabyte BRIX Projector that we are taking a look at today is powered by the Intel i3-4010U 1.7GHz processor and Intel HD 4400 graphics. Being that this is a “PC Kit” you will need to install your own DDR3L memory and mSATA drive. Let’s take a look!

The GIGABYTE Brix Mini-PC from GIGABYTE has several different versions each with different specifications. The defining difference between each of these units is the processor, well with the exception of the GB-BXPi3-4010. The GB-BXPi3-4010 has a feature quite unlike the others, a built-in WVGA projector that is capable of a 864 x 480 screen resolution! Each of these units is a barebones system, so keep that in mind. You will have to add a mSATA drive and memory to the GIGABYTE Brix of your choice. Read on as we take the Gigabyte Brix Projector for a test drive!

Gigabyte makes very interesting mini-PCs along with their hardware components, but a special product in their Brix catalogue is the Brix Projector. We recently had the opportunity to try it out. The concept of the Gigabyte Brix Projector i3-4010 is a very original one, and the design looks good as well. In practice, however, it feels more like a showcase.

Does size really matter? On some human levels it might, though a different trend has been observed in the PC market over the last year. Compact is the key word, featuring mITX sized motherboards and idem ditto enclosures. These compact PCs are playing a more and more important role in every manufacturers' lineup: Mini PCs, NUCs, they are all amongst us now. For most users the bundled power is more than plenty as the size maters the most. Nevertheless combining the raw power of a desktop setup inside a mini sized housing is a step in another direction. Gigabyte is having big success with their BRIX boxes, time to step up one level. Today we are going to test one of these Gigabyte supercharged versions: the BRIX Pro.

With modern computer components continuing the trend of shrinking in size while also increasing in performance, the small form-factor (SFF) market is big business. Taking size reductions to the extreme, can Gigabyte’s BRIX prove its worth to downsizing system builders?

Intel's NUC has spawned a new generation of mini PCs. We recently took a look at the Next Unit of Computing (NUC) from Intel and we found it to be a very impressive unit but was marginally let down by components lacking performance, a high price tag and a missing wireless module. Gigabyte's BRIX looks set to take on two of those major flaws in Intel's new reference NUC platform as they have opted for a Core i5 and have included a wireless module.
Today we are reviewing the Gigabyte GB-XM11-3337 BRIX which is like Intel's NUC except Gigabyte have redesigned the chassis, changed the I/O, changed the BIOS and opted for some higher spec hardware. While Intel's NUC measures in at 1.55 inches thick Gigabyte's BRIX is much smaller at 1.18 inches thick. In fact the Gigabyte BRIX is just a generally more compact unit than Intel's NUC. Furthermore the wireless module is included as standard and USB 3.0 has been added too. Finally there is a DisplayPort and HDMI instead of two HDMI meaning you have slightly more flexibility when it comes to display outputs.

In the past I have taken a look at a ice variety of small form factor PCs. Out of all of them I was most impressed with the NUC. Not only did it have the smallest form factor, but it also performed extremely well. It really opened up my eyes to the possibility that only gamers and enthusiasts will be sporting full or mid-sized PCs in the future. We already see a lot of people moving to just using a laptop or even a tablet. So beyond the NUC I was really curious about other NUC like PCs like the Brix from Gigabyte. Well today I have the chance to check out the Brix GB-BXA8-5557, an AMD based PC that has a similar footprint to Intel’s NUC. Let’s see what it is all about and find out if it can hold its own in the performance benchmarks compared to the others.

The i35G is a cute and small computer from Giada, that can be used for light Internet browsing, watching movies, or playing old games, this while keeping the power consumption to a low level. The chassis comes with active cooling, and the fan speed is being ramped up depending on the temperatures. A Media Center remote is also included inside the box for added value, along with a HDMI cable and a plastic transparent dock to place the computer into the optimal position.

In the realm of Mini PCs, Giada shows that just because it is tiny doesn't mean you have to skimp totally on the horsepower.
