While routers have never been essential, most people will have at least one in their house, especially with the rapid increase of wireless devices such as laptops, phones, tablets and lots more. Routers allow you to connect to several computers wirelessly or even via ethernet connections, allowing you to create a network with more than one computer. Lots of companies like Virgin Media and other ISPs provide routers with their broadband packages and as such some are installed and never seen again. While this is the simplest solution there are lots of improvements that can be made to a network, for instance, improving wireless coverage, which is where a second router or wireless bridge comes in handy.

A few months ago, we tested seven methods for applying thermal compound in order to determine which was the best. At the time, we concluded that a small dot in the center of the CPU is the best method to apply thermal compound. But this conclusion may be applied only for the hardware we used, and, since we ran our tests using a CPU cooler with a mirror-like base, we couldn't extrapolate that result for coolers with different characteristics, such as direct touch heatpipes coolers. In those coolers, there are gaps and irregularities on the base of the cooler which may need a different quantity or procedure to apply thermal compound. That's why we are testing again. This time we will try to answer the question, "What is the best way to apply thermal grease on direct-touch heatpipes CPU coolers?

Roku made a name for itself by providing a device that, for many, is synonymous with Netflix streaming. The quality of that service, and other premium, IP delivered media, has increased significantly since the original box was launched, necessitating an update to modernize the lineup and provide support for HD content. To address this, we now have the Roku 2 comprised of three models: HD, XD, and XS, spanning the range from $60 to $100. Each of the devices is capable of 5.1 bit streaming, but the Roku 2 HD, which is limited to 720p, it is not as interesting as the other two which are capable of delivering 1080p video. Today we take a look at high-end XS, which tops the XD by including Roku’s Bluetooth gaming remote, a USB port, and Ethernet.

With their new Helo TC RC Helicopter, Griffin aims to improve upon the general formula for indoor RC helicopters by swapping out an iOS device for the standard RC remote. The end result is a bit of a letdown, but the brilliance Griffin aimed for can still be seen, though it is obscured by a few glaring issues.

Up for review today I’ve got something a bit out of the ordinary, but it’s still tech related I think and it’s certainly not what I might consider a toy, but you might. Arctic has sent me over the Land Rider 403 Remote Controlled Leopard Tank and I have to say it’s a just a blast to use. The land Rider 403 comes completely assembled so all you have to do is charge the battery and start driving and shooting. The tank shoots shells by the remote control. The canon can be moved up and down and it’s attached to a turret that can rotate left and right. The Land Rider 403 is much more than a toy, it’s high quality and highly detailed remote control tank that I’m sure you’ll enjoy

Recently, motherboard manufacturers have been fighting their hardest to differentiate their products from one another in an effort to re-invigorate the stagnant PC business. A lot of this messaging has taken a very aggressive turn, where companies have blatantly called out or attacked competing products for not being the real deal or being up-to-speed.
