Lenovo, the world's fourth largest vendor of personal computers, purchased IBM's PC division in 2005 for the handsome sum of $1.75 billion, and along with it the widely recognized ThinkPad moniker. Lenovo has picked up the ball and run with Think branding, christening its business-focused PCs with some iterations of the name'ThinkServer, ThinkStation, ThinkCentre, etc. Lenovo's 'Lifestyle' line of PCs use a similar naming convention, substituting 'Think' for 'Idea, as in IdeaPad and IdeaCentre.

It's the first time in a long time that we have gotten excited about a touch-screen all-in-one PC. We have reviewed a number of them in recent months, but none of those managed to fully impress us. The Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 reminded us of how fun and appealing an all-in-one can be when it's done properly and comes with the right software, even when the OS is Windows 7. It's obvious that Lenovo designed this computer with Windows 8 in mind.

Using a touchscreen is something we are used to with our mobile phones and tablets but it really has not translated to the desktop all that well. Yes there have been all-in-one touchscreen systems, but for the most part they have been clunky and Windows 7 really is not made for a touchscreen. This all changes with Windows 8. It’s been years since I’ve bought a pre-built desktop computer, so I was interested in the opportunity to check out the Erazer X700 Gaming System that Lenovo offered to us to review.
