Up on the review block today I’ve got another HD webcam from Logitech, the C510. A little bit ago I looked at the C910, which is pretty much the top end camera, this C510 is more middle range offering 720P resolution. The resolution is lower but the features are the same like pan, tilt and zoom and numerous special effects. The C510 even includes a nice little carrying case so you can take it with you and keep it protected

Back in 1994 when i first got my first internet access (via a 33.6k modem) video calling was almost impossible to have not only due to very slow download/upload speeds but also because at the time there were only just a couple of chat programs compatible with the very few webcams available. Fast forward 18 years in the future and now almost every person on the planet can enjoy HD (high definition) video calls just by choosing one of the countless 720p compatible webcams in the market and using it either with MSN, Skype or with a very large number of compatible video call programs. Unlike normal HD calls however Full HD video calls are not that easy to achieve not only because they require more download/upload speeds (bandwidth) but also because there aren't that many 1080p webcams currently in the market to begin with (not true 1080p ones). The C920 HD Pro Webcam by Logitech is one such model and we are here to take it for a spin.

If you happen to visit YouTube a lot like we do you will have most possibly noticed an considerable increase in clips recorded with action cameras and car dash cameras from all around the world. Obviously this wasn't possible a few years back but the current state of technology along with the large number of companies in the market that focus in the design and manufacturer of such products have allowed consumers from virtually every segment to own one such device. Since we have both used and tested quite a few such devices we know firsthand of what you can expect from them both in terms of video/audio quality and features but as with everything else there are plenty of models in the market we have yet to get our hands on. Liquid Image is one of the oldest players and already counts 6 years in the market but it wasn't until just a couple of months ago that they send us their latest EGO 1080p/12MP Wi-Fi Xtreme Sport Camera to test.

As discussed in our article "Why Build a Linux Firewall", there are many advantages to having a custom-built firewall appliance in your home. While these Linux distributions are easy to set up and have nice User Interfaces, they still have some problems. Not every feature of Linux is exposed in the GUI, so while these firewalls are very capable they don't allow for simple customization.

As mentioned in the previous segment, you can create a professional-level firewall using old hardware that you would otherwise throw away. Some people may choose to purchase new dedicated hardware, which can have several advantages. Either way, you can create a hardware firewall costs significantly less than the $1000-$3000 that professional hardware devices can cost.
