The Syabas Popcorn Hour A-400 is one of the, if not the, best media players currently on the market. The file compatibility is good, the network performance is fast, and the picture quality is high. The build quality of the player itself is impressive and is on the level of high-end audio components, and the passive cooling makes it a very silent media device (as long as you don't use a hard drive).

Our friends at Geeks have sent me over another media player for review. This one holds a 2.5” drive, comes with remote and carrying case and it has controls right on the enclosure. As an added bonus you can also use a microSD card with it along with SD cards and even a memory stick, or you can hook up a USB flash drive or USB hard drive for added storage space. This little player is very versatile that’s for sure, it’s basic yes, but it’s not too bad.

Today we are looking at the latest high end 24 inch monitor from Asus, the PA248Q. This monitor features a pre-calibrated LED backlit IPS panel with 1920×1200 resolution. The PA248Q ProArt display is said to guarantee industry leading colour accuracy and is shipped with a minimal colour differential at ∆E < 5. It is also the world’s first monitor to be sold with four USB 3.0 ports.

All-in-one computers, also known as AIO, are systems built inside the same case as the video monitor, designed to remove clutter from your desk. The problem so far is that parts for all-in-one computers are not standardized, meaning that each manufacturer uses its own design and choice of components, which may not be compatible with an all-in-one from another manufacturer. To solve this problem, Intel is leading the industry in creating a standard for all-in-one components. This way, parts designed for one system will fit in another, making the life of AIO manufacturers easier. This standard also allows users to build their own all-in-one computers from scratch.

Standalone hardware media players have been around for around 5 years (and some of you know that I’ve been putting them through rigorous tests right from the beginning) but they really started to make DVD and Blu-Ray players obsolete roughly a couple of years ago when people started to realize that they can have the basic functionality of an dedicated HTPC system (mainly media file playback, file sharing and web surfing) at just a fraction of the cost and in many cases with superior image quality. Now looking back a few months i really can't remember when was the last time we had a hardware/network media player on our test bench so when a courier arrived at our door just over a week ago holding the latest TV-303D Universal FullHD Network Media Player by Dune HD i felt somewhat relieved to be on the receiving end of a newly released device which is not directly related to PC and smartphones.

Today we look at the latest gaming PC from UK system builder DINOPC. Their Asusinator 4670K OC is based around the Asus Z87-K motherboard and features the Intel Core i5 4670K processor, overclocked to 4.2ghz.
Rounding out the specifications is a GTX770 graphics card, ideal for gaming at high settings. How is the build quality and can this system compete with the best of them today?

The PCE-N15 Wireless-N PCI-E Adapter from Asus provides a way to alleviate some of the tangled monstrosity that is networking. The PCE-N15 Wireless-N adapter boasts a top speed of 300Mbps and dual antennas that operate on different frequencies to help deal with areas that have a lot of other Wi-Fi networks. It all seems like the standard affair for a wireless-N card these days, except for nifty little mode called "Software AP" which allows it to act as an access point for other devices on your network. This way you can either extend your existing network or add wireless without more cables and a new router.

We can finally say that wireless networks are the standard for connecting computers now. Wireless network cards are for long a standard laptop built-in accessory. Almost all broadband routers – a peripheral that allows you to share your broadband Internet connection with several computers – come with an antenna for wireless networking, allowing the sharing of your Internet connection not only with computers connected to the router by cable, but also to those that have antennas for wireless network. With the popularization with wireless networks came also the increased number of users being hacked and their connection or even important data being watched and stolen. In this short tutorial we will teach you the basics of wireless networking security: how to upgrade the router firmware, how to enable encryption and making sure that you are using the correct kind of encryption.

Following our recent look at one of Netgear's Prosafe wireless access points, the WNDAP360, which got a huge thumbs up in our testing, we thought that its worth taking a look at what lies at the heart of each and every network in one form or another and that's the switches. Without these networking multi-sockets, the internet wouldn't be and neither would be modern communications. Switches are the unsung heroes of networks and they have probably the hardest time, ensuring that data goes in the right direction depending on the users needs and their configurations and all at high speed.
