Dahingehend möchte Nadeo mit ShootMania Storm vieles anders machen: Mit einem kreativen und untypischen Setting sowie Spieleprinzip, möchten die französischen Entwickler FPS-Gamer in ihren Bann ziehen. This week I’ve been getting lost in a part of the gaming world I know little about, real-time strategy. I’ve tried and failed at this genre before and I’ve yet to find a game that really hooked me, even then I think the last one I moderately enjoyed was C&C Generals! But I have heard great things about Company of Heroes and when presented with a chance to test out this latest edition in the series I just couldn’t help myself. Of course this isn’t just me sharing my preferences for gaming but a warning that I am a complete n00b at CoH2 and may not fully grasp the source material, you have been warned.
The game takes place in the legendary setting of World War II, in which you will span several legendary encounters from the perspective of the games new faction the Soviet Red Army. This sees you crossing the Eastern Front and the campaign features 14 challenging missions for you to pick your way through. Personally I found the game to be quite challenging in more ways than one and for the purpose of my own enjoyment I had to bump it down to Conscript difficulty (easy) just to get anywhere, although this could be my lack of experience with this type of game.
Borderlands 2 is easily one of my all time favourite games and it offers one of the most complete and engrossing multiplayer experiences available on current generation consoles. That’s not to say that there aren’t other great co-op titles out there but Borderlands 2 is certainly one of the best ever made. Personally I’ve already put in over 300 hours of co-op time on the original Borderlands, which was a big game to start with, but it really pushed the boat out in terms of value with some of the most expansive DLC I’ve ever seen. I’m rapidly catching up on that game time with Borderlands 2 and that’s thanks to even more expansive DLC than ever before and now Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep is set to keep that flame burning.
Said to be the biggest and most diverse expansion so far in the Borderlands series, Tiny Tina’s new DLC is like nothing that has gone before it, a crazy parody of a game within a game that is set to shake up the games usual mechanics in more ways than one. As you may already know, Tiny Tina is a crazy thirteen year old explosives expert and this DLC is effectively her take on the nerdy culture surrounding titles like Dungeons and Dragons, so expect it to be somewhat skewed from the blatantly ripped off source material, all ripped off in good spirit of course.
