Epic Games and shooters go together like few other combinations in the gaming industry. Even when Epic aren't releasing shooting games directly themselves, their Unreal Engine technology is delivering the framework necessary to create usually very good shooting games for other developers and publishers to slap their logo on.

A little more than a month ago we told you about the AMD Gaming Evolved Campaign as well as the new game title called Total War: Shogun 2. We took a look at the Shogun 2 and ran some benchmarks using DirctX 9. At the time of release Sega promised a soon to follow patch that would include DirectX 11 compatibility as well as a handful of other killer features. The patch has arrived and we have taken to the benchmarks again to see how the patch has helped or hurt the performance of Total War: Shogun 2. Read on to see what we found out.

Brink has a futuristic setting where Earth has flooded and a large chunk of civilisation has moved to a large floating city called The Ark. Designed initially as a sustainable living environment which was populated by great minds of the day as well as the rich it now finds itself surrounded by un-sailable ships and Container City, a slum which is the home of the Resistance a group of people with nowhere else to go and no access to even the basic standards of living.

In 2009 TimeGate Studios released a first person shooter called Section 8 which gained a decent online following thanks to a good multi-player experience. The follow up features refinements to the multi-player and a new single player campaign but the twist is that this is a download only title (for 360/PS3 and PC) which costs £9.99/$15 rather than the £30-40 or $50 that most new titles launch at.

InFamous was one of my favourite games in recent years, it combined fast, hard hitting action with the option to fulfill your inner eviiiillll nature. Killing civilians and butchering innocents was all part of the fun, although I have to admit my path was more honourable and valiant.

So it's here... finally... the long awaited (12+ years??!) "new" Duke Nukem game. It has been said that no game could live up to the hype generated in that time and that is probably true however that doesn't mean Duke Nukem Forever couldn't be good... an enjoyable nostalgic blast.

Let’s just address the pink elephant in the room. No one can think of Duke Nukem Forever without bringing up the extremely long development cycle. Yes, the game has had more than its fair share of drama, and has been in development for over 12 years. Due to the extremely long development time, gamers (and reviewers) believe that this game should be the most polished thing ever, with streamlined gameplay and unrivaled level design that should win awards for years to come.

The basic storyline to Red Faction: Armageddons single player campaign is that we are a mercenary on Mars. The game begins with us joining a squad of marine type characters on a mission to save the planets Terraformer from being destroyed by the big evil of the game, Adam Hale. Following the success, or failure of this initial mission where we learn the main game mechanic we are tasked with variations on 3rd person action as we take on various jobs surrounding the main plot.

Diablo was one of my favourite games of all time. The overall concept and execution was ground breaking and it built up a huge cult following. Falling in the shadows was Dungeon Siege, another ‘dungeon crawler’ style game which while buggy was also a tremendous amount of fun. The latest title in the series, Dungeon Siege 3 was released last week and hopefully will help drive sales and satisfy the RPG hardcore audience.
