Tablets are great and it seems over the past couple of years they have really caught on. Since most people do 80% of their daily computing tasks in “the browser” tablets are becoming many people’s main computing devices. They are less expensive than laptops, are easier to carry around and just look cool! One of the most common tasks on a tablet is checking and sending e-mail. Android tablets are starting to become more affordable, and for less than £350 you can already find tablets from the high-end brands. We tested two that were recently launched, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Toshiba AT300. We compared them with each other and also with the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 that we reviewed several months ago. The Toshiba tablet is about £40 cheaper than the Samsung tablet, which in turn costs about £25 less than the ASUS tablet. Samsung has created an excellent tablet with the Galaxy Note 10.1, even if it's not exactly a looker. It is by far the fastest Android tablet that we've seen. With 2 GB RAM it has the most memory of any tablet around, and it lasts very long on a single battery charge. Just the Full HD screen is missing.
The U410 stood out with its impressive specifications (an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard disk), but the U310 distinguishes itself by its look instead. This Ultrabook is available in a combination of white and blue as you can see in this review, but also in white and pink. Clearly different than the standard grey or black combinations of traditional laptops.
For the price you get a pretty powerful and well-equipped Ultrabook. Most brands offer a Core i5 at this level, but Lenovo includes an energy-efficient Core i7 and 8 GB memory. And instead of the typical 500 GB hard drive you get a 1 TB version and even a dedicated graphics card by Nvidia. While it's just the GeForce 610, it's still a nice addition.
