For a select few, mechanical keyboards hold a special place in their hearts, unfortunately for those people the number of mechanical keyboards on the market is very small with even less having any type of unique design for gaming. Razer recently introduced the Razer BlackWidow mechanical gaming keyboard, which uses the Cherry MX Blue switches to give it auditory and tactile feedback along with requiring less pressure to actuate. Razer hope to compete with the SteelSeries 7G and the Qtronix XARMOR-U9BL using the BlackWidow's venomous bite as its weapon. As Razer's first foray into the mechanical keyboard market, and Benchmark Reviews will determine whether the BlackWidow is as venomous as they claimed or if it's all for show.

Today we will be reviewing the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 Edition. This is Razer’s first refresh of the BlackWidow Ultimate since its introduction in late 2010 and while most of the core features are identical (Cherry MX Blue keyswitches, dedicated macro keys, USB/audio passthroughs, game mode, etc.), there are a number of key improvements to the design...

Rather than go with a rebranded version of an existing headset for their Battlefield 3 set Razer decided to design a new model and that is the Blackshark. Today we have the Blackshark on our test bench to see how it performs.

With the release of Call of Duty Black Ops II, Assassins Creed III and Hitman Absolution (also Planetside 2 if you're into serious online FPS gaming) inside this month we found the excellent opportunity to test several gaming peripherals we had lined up. I mean what better way to test something that was designed and manufactured primarily for gamers (and by gamers in most cases) than to use it while playing the latest games to hit the market? I really can't think of anything better and although we have lots of things to test aside gaming peripherals and thus we can't really spend the largest portion of our day gaming still we did manage to log enough hours to complete the single player campaign of COD Black Ops II (the "concert" at the end was quite funny) and also get a good taste of the other three. Amongst all the gaming peripherals we tested was the latest and quite impressive Blackshark stereo gaming headset by Razer.

Mechanical keyboards are certainly making a bit of a comeback and they are now a major part of the Gaming Industry. While they won't replace keyboards for everyday use, their speed, and reassuring click is always going to be liked by Gamers.

Battlefield 3 is one of those killer titles which draws a lot of interest and aiming to offer those consumers something a little more interesting than the average peripheral is Razers BF3 Collectors Edition products. The Arctosa Gaming Keyboard is one of Razer's entry-level enthusiast peripherals to help gamers get into the world of high-end keyboards. It is a keyboard with many of the advanced features that you expect on a gaming keyboard, but with a price that wont break the bank. With such features as fully programmable macro keys and anti-ghosting technology, just to name a few. Benchmark Reviews is here to test this keyboard and its many features to discover whether it lives up to the Razer name, or if it is just another regular old keyboard with some fancy logos and shiny buttons on it.
