Today we have a midrange model in the G series, the G500s, on our review bench to find out what Logitech offer in the £60/$70 price range.

We recently tested the least-expensive member of Logitech’s new G line, the G100s, and it impressed us enough to earn one of our Editor’s Choice awards. Today, we have a look at the higher-tiered G500s. It’s an altogether different animal compared to its less-pricey sister, so let’s find out if it impresses just the same.

A good portion of Logitech’s most recent product introductions have really just been refreshes of old products. The G602 wireless mouse was really the only fully new design to come from Logitech in a few years up until very recently. Not too long before I went on vacation Logitech introduced their newest mouse the G502 Proteus Core. Not only is the G502 a completely new product, but it is also the only Logitech Gaming product to also include a name beyond their standard G naming scheme. That must mean that the G502 is something special to them and they really wanted it to stand out. Today I am going to take a look at the G502 Proteus Core to see what it’s all about and find out if it is worth getting excited about, let’s dig in.

A couple of weeks ago CCP Games the creators behind the massive EVE Online MMORPG surprised everyone by announcing their latest game prototype called Project Legion which unlike their much acclaimed DUST 514 Multiplayer First Person Shooter PS3 title is to be released solely on PC. Naturally it's going to be a while before CCP Games manages to even release a beta of the game but this announcement combined with the release of several highly anticipated upcoming titles like Watch dogs, Squadron 42/Star Citizen, Alien: Isolation, Mad Max, Evolve and Elite Frontier and it's a safe bet that countless gamers around the world are going to be gearing up for them really soon. Logitech is not only amongst the oldest companies in the PC industry but they are also without doubt amongst the top gaming peripheral manufacturers in the market currently largely thanks to both the quality of their products and their excellent after sales support. For the past week we've been testing their latest G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse around the clock and today we can finally share our thoughts and opinion about it with all of you.

Gamers are demanding people to create equipment for, and who can blame them. When you spend hours a day with your hardware, (like many of us at Benchmark Reviews), and other people are depending on your hardware to hold up, you have certain expectations from it. When looking for a mouse, one considers many factors, including size, weight, customization, durability, and the list goes on. Logitech has aimed its G600 MMO Gaming Mouse towards gamers looking for a high-quality mouse with lots of features, and it definitely shows. With 20 programmable buttons, a maximum DPI of 8200, the G-Shift feature, a lightweight body, and many other features, this mouse provides a balance between functionality and fun. If you've ever found yourself looking for a mouse with a good balance between functionality, durability and cool features, then take a look at this...

The G600 isn’t very attractive as a result of Logitech emphasizing ergonomics and function over aesthetics. I wouldn’t call the Razer Naga attractive either with its own waffle of buttons, or really any other MMO mice such as the Corsair M90 and the Mad Catz M.M.O. 7. The G600 just looks weird, but for all the right reasons...

Logitech launched a mouse aimed at MMO gamers, combining a keypad with an ergonomic mouse design into a quite unique product, dubbed the G600

The mouse is perhaps the only PC peripheral that has changed a virtually countless number of times since its introduction almost 50 years ago. Sure the basic concept has remained the same even after 50 years but the technology and design have not and although most of us grew up using the rather old PS/2 ball mice we now have both optical and laser USB/wireless mice which are many times faster, can be used on most surfaces and usually have more than just two primary buttons. Gaming mice are even more advanced with better precision/accuracy, increased speeds, many buttons (usually with high quality switches) and several features that can help gamers dominate the battlefield with ease. The G600 MMO Gaming Mouse by Logitech which we have here with us today was designed and manufactured specifically for gamers who play Massive Multiplayer Online games and thus require more buttons than normal single player games to use as shortcuts in order to effectively improve their response times (naturally since you are going up against countless enemies controlled by real people).
