I’m no different. My “gaming” mice journey started out with a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer; then a Logitech MX 1000; then the Logitech MX Revolution; then the Logitech Performance MX; and currently with the Logitech G700. If you look at all these mice you can see that other than the MX 1000 the layout and look do not differentiate from each other much. The G700 I possess I thought was by far the best mouse overall I’ve ever used. Other than the battery life, when in wireless mode sucks balls, the mouse was a perfect fit for me. The size, the speed, the button layout, the complete overall feel…it was amazing. So, when Bob asked me to review the Corsair Vengeance M60 Performance Gaming Mouse I was a bit hesitant. I don’t like reviewing products that I have a defined bias towards even before I open the box. I couldn’t see how anything could be as good as my G700. Well, I’ve been using the M60 for 3 weeks now and boy was I wrong.

The trend is continuing. Blu-ray player competition is getting fierce and we all will be reaping the rewards of cheaper players that will continue to do more with every generation. Samsung's BD-D6500 is a good example of a player that only last year has the features of a model that would have easily been US$100 more.

These days it seems every manufacturer is trying to get into the gaming peripheral market including the likes of Thermaltake and Corsair. But there are some brands, like ROCCAT and SteelSeries that have much more experience in the sector and have been producing gaming peripherals for a number of years now.

That was my way of thinking, at least until I actually got to play around with and enjoy playing around with one of the two keyboards that Corsair just sent me. I spent quite a bit of time playing with the keyboards and mice at CES, but you just got the essence of what these boards were all about. They were fully functional at that time, but ten to fifteen minutes of play time does not give you the full feel of this product. Not only did Corsair steeping up to offer a reasonable priced solution to ponder in the mechanical keyboard segment, this keyboard seems to feel better every time I use it and that is something my fingers will say never happened on any of my rubber dome switch keyboards. In reality, with prolonged use of prior boards, my fingers did feel the brunt of the exchange between key and finger.

So far two great events have occurred inside October, first Chris Roberts (Wing Commander/Freelancer) announced his plans for a new single/multi-player space simulator called Squadron 42/Star Citizen (featuring breathtaking graphics and physics) and second we also reached the release date of the much awaited turn-based XCOM Enemy Unknown which is latest title in the XCOM saga (something that brought back many memories from the mid 90's). So naturally for the past 10 days or so I’ve been spending quite a bit of time playing XCOM Enemy Unknown and remembering the originals so it goes without saying that I’ve chosen to mostly test gaming peripherals (who said you can't mix business with pleasure?). of course since we use the all-time classic mouse to play turn-based strategy games the first of those peripherals could be none other than the latest Sensei [RAW] Glossy gaming mouse from SteelSeries.

Today we are taking a look at another important aspect of a gamers' arsenal. The humble mouse, while starting out as a moderately basic input device it has evolved rather significantly over the past few years. It is now the case that they can cram a lot of technology into a very small space, or in this case, a lot of technology into a large mouse.
