To many the thought of gaming eyewear may sound like a gimmick, causing an eyebrow or two to be raised. Especially so when See Better, Play Better is found on the box with claims that are nothing short of spectacular. However looking a little closer the product brief explains the eyewears technology will increase contrast, enhance detail, help reduce glare, improve endurance, decrease eye fatigue and dry eyes... Interesting and in theory not entirely unreasonable.

Back in August, Valve released the latest extension to its Counter-Strike franchise, Global Offensive. To mark the occasion, SteelSeries issued a trio of branded gaming products; Siberia V2 headset, Kana mouse and QcK mousepad. We’re taking a look at all three at once to see if this is a bundle any CS: GO fan should get in on.

The World of Warcraft Cataclysm mouse is one of the more popular Warcraft gaming mice’s on the market, this is most likely due to the armour plated styled design to look like the characters from the game, and it featuring 14 buttons that can bind directly from the World of Warcraft interface, without ever leaving the game, 16 million colours to choose to illuminate your device, and many more features. The Cataclysm is supported by PC and Mac. If you’re a World of Warcraft fan, or just a gaming enthusiast, take a look at what you are missing out on.

SteelSeries has a history of releasing thematic peripherals, such as the World of Warcraft and Diablo line of products (both games from Blizzard Entertainment). Now the company releases a set of mouse and mouse pad for the best-selling FPS title, Call of Duty Black Ops II. The basis of the peripheral is the celebrated Sensei mouse, but with some differences that we will see throughout this review.

Today we take a look at the Apex gaming keyboard from legendary peripheral company Steelseries. Steelseries have been instrumental to the gaming community since 2001 and they’ve built a robust reputation and a huge, loyal fan base around the world. I know there are a few people on the fence about the brand and no doubt more than a few haters too, but this is true of any brand on the market, but a brand like Steelseries doesn’t get as big as they are by turning out weak products and I’m hoping to see some of their history and pedigree put into this new keyboard.
Gaming is bigger than ever and PC gaming is booming once again thanks to the advances eSports / Pro Gaming which has seen everything from sponsorships to endorsements really push high end gaming peripherals to the consumer market both on a general and an enthusiast level. Steelseries already have a rock solid range of products that cater to a fairly broad range of budgets and the keyboard we are looking at today is priced at a tidy £60.00 which brings it in line with a few rival brands offerings such as the Roccat ISKU and £60 is still quite a high price for a non mechanical keyboard so the Apex is going to have to offer something special to compete with the performance of a mechanical board.
The Apex is the more budget friendly alternative to the Apex. The idea is that you still get most of the features and performance at a reduced price, but if you want the full fat luxury experience then you will need to shell out £90-100 for the fully equipped model which looks like direct competition to the Roccat ISKU FX. So lets move along and see exactly what this board has to offer, it certainly packs some exciting specifications so I have high hopes for its performance.

Apex - noun [C] /ˈeɪ.peks/ the highest point or most successful part of something.
SteelSeries makes its ambitions bright and clear with the name of their latest keyboard, The Apex [RAW]. Packed with 17 macro keys and 2 macro levels for a total of 34 macros, 2 extra arrow keys, and raised macro keys for easier access, the Apex [RAW] is a stripped down version of its big brother, the Apex. As it doesn’t feature everything the Apex has in its arsenal, you can get your hands on the Apex [RAW] for £55.99 inc vat. versus £79.99 for the Apex. Is it worth the money however?
