Logitech recently announced updates to their popular G-Series line of gaming products with the release of the Gaming Keyboard G510, Wireless Gaming Mouse G700 and Wireless Gaming Headset G930. The G510 replaces the G15 gaming keyboard while the G700 is the first wireless gaming mouse from Logitech since the G7 which is now over half a decade old. Today we will be taking a look at the Gaming Headset G930, which is essentially a wireless version of the G35 Gaming Headphones that we looked at last year. Although the two are very similar, there are a few subtle differences that Logitech have implemented.
The Corsair HS1 USB Gaming Headset is designed for gamers who are serious about audio. The HS1 uses massive 50mm drivers deliver serious gaming punch, without sacrificing the sparkling sound quality you need to enjoy music and movies. The headphones are topped of with a noise-canceling microphone that ensures that your teammates and opponents hear you loud and clear.
When it comes to audio for our computers most just accept what comes with their computers. If you bought a pre-made computer then you got a pair of speakers with it, granted many times you can get decent ones but most times they’re fairly bad sounding really. Our computers today are much more than just that, they’ve become multi-media centers and as such a decent set of stereo speakers is need or even a nice little surround sound system. Today for review I’ve got the Hercules XPS 5.1 70 Slim speaker system, and from my time with them I’ve come to enjoy them very much, they’ve truly added a new depth to my audio experience.
The P321`s are another USB powered headset from Arctic Cooling's Arctic Sound division. This time, however, they are of the stereo variety and as such are intended for music listening. Since this headset does not interface in the traditional sense with a sound card, it relies on a built-in sound processor much like the one found in its more advanced next of kin; the P531 (review coming soon). Company boffins also claim the use of some high fidelity drivers along with a design that aids in blocking out outside noise.
So, if anyone had asked us a year ago 'what is the next area that Corsair would branch out into?' we can say with absolute certainty that our response would not have been audio. Some sort of peripheral, a mouse or keyboard maybe but audio... not a chance. It was therefore with a certain amount of surprise that we saw Corsair soft launch the HS1 gaming headset a few weeks back.
I’ve had the Logitech Wireless Mouse M305 for quite some time now and for anyone wanting a low cost compact mouse then this should fit your bill. It’s lightweight and can be easily tucked into my laptop bag for travelling. The compact size didn’t provide me with any fatigue even after multiple hours of use.
The P531 from Arctic Sound is a well built and reasonably well designed surround sound headset that uses a USB interface rather than an analog interface in order to be a totally flexible solution. This is current to the trends we are seeing now, and USB is absolutely massive at the moment, especially with the newest unveiling of USB 3.0 recently which offers huge data rates and will not be bettered for universal appeal until USB 4.0 comes out, we suspect.
