We continue to analyze the Vengeance line of gaming-grade keyboards and mice from Corsair, after reviewing the FPS-oriented K60 keyboard and M60 mouse. Now we're about to see the peripherals designed for strategy and role playing games, featuring more configuration capabilities. First we'll take a look at the Vengeance K90, a mechanical keyboard with 18 macro keys and an illuminated aluminum chassis. Let's describe its physical characteristics.
We really liked the looks of the K90 keyboard and the floating keys made clean out dust, dirt, and the random Doritos crumb a breeze. The backlighting is great with three levels of brightness and the ability to turn it off. Eighteen 'G' keys to record on the fly or software driven macros with three memories for a total of 54 is what we would call overkill but nice if you are a macro fan. The Cherry MX Red keys on the K90 are top of the line with light activation and subtle audio click. Putting a 20KRO PCB in the K90 takes advantage of the maximum simultaneous key press USB can handle and should guarantee no key presses are missed in the heat of battle...
Corsair have been known to make some seriously cool peripherals in the last few years, most notably for me are their range of premium gaming mice such as the M65 and M95, both of which are some of the finest mice on the market and their K60 and K90 keyboards have already proven popular with gamers around the world and won multiple awards for their performance, but can the K70 live up to the high standards that Corsair sets themselves and can it bring anything new to the mechanical keyboard market given that the market is already pretty crowded with great options to spend your money on? Well that’s what I hope to find out today.
With a price tag of £119.99 (overclockers.co.uk) it’s safe to say this isn’t a budget model, once you get over the £100 price mark your well into enthusiast level technology and within this price range there are more than a few options to pick from with your hard-earned money such as the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate or the QPAD MK-85, both of which are incredible keyboards but when your spending this kind of money you want something exact, something that suits your play style, that offers a design your happy with and you also want premium quality and performance, many of which are subjective qualities and it will be interesting to see what the K70 has to offer.
The K70 is the third attempt by Corsair at making mechanical keyboards, and I think that they have finally nailed it this time. Their initial release featured a mix of mechanical keys and rubber dome keys that many users didn’t approve of. Their second release featured backlit keys and macro keys but still had a mix of mechanical and rubber dome keys. Now we meet in the middle – we have a full set of illuminated mechanical keys with per-key illumination, and there is a choice between red, blue and brown Cherry MX switches to boot. Available in Black/Red or Silver/Blue color combinations, the Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is arguably one of the best looking mechanical keyboards available today. Corsair has had an exciting year so far in 2013 stretch from exciting new product releases including the acquisition of Raptor Gaming to sponsoring Team Solo Mid, one of the most accomplished North American League of Legends team. Corsair’s eagerness to learn and adapt has landed them into the gaming peripheral market where their name has gained recognition within the past year since the M60 and M90 mice, and K60 and K90 keyboards made their debut. The Vengeance K70 is one of Corsair’s new mechanical keyboards for 2013 bringing highly requested backlighting to the K60 design.

Corsair recently introduced a successor to the K60 mechanical keyboard, called the K70. It has a wrist support that spans the entire width, and features Cherry MX Red keys. In the future the keyboard will also be available with Cherry MX Brown and MX Blue keys.
The K70 keyboard updates several features from the K60 in Corsair’s Vengeance gaming line. Unlike the Corsair K60, the Corsair K70 is fully backlit and uses 100% Cherry MX switches for the keys. The signature brushed aluminum chassis of the previous Corsair Vengeance keyboards remains but users now can choose between the classic silver with blue LED and the new anodized black color with red LED. There is also Cherry MX blue and Cherry MX brown switch versions available in addition to the Cherry MX red used in the previous generation Vengeance keyboards.
