We’ve already favourably reviewed the Corsair Vengeance M90 gaming mouse, and now it’s time to try out its younger sibling, the M60. Apart from sharing a name with one of gaming’s most treasured light machine guns, what does the M60 offer? Well, it’s aimed at a much different audience: FPS gamers. With few additional buttons and a dedicated ‘sniper mode’, the M60 offers a much lighter experience that should definitely please its target market. How does it live up to expectations? Read on to find out.

Let me start by breaking this down a bit. As an avid FPS gamer, I can say there are a few things a mouse must have to work in this sort of gaming environment. The most basics are the movement and the ability to fire and sight down the weapon. This leaves just about any mouse since somewhere in the 1970's to be on the list of answers. Over the years though, most users expect a certain level of "features" to already be thought of in the mouse before they would even consider buying it.

We continue to explore the new Vengeance line from Corsair. After our review of their FPS keyboard, the K60, it's time to check out its companion mouse, the M60. The model reaches 5,700 dpi of resolution, and its main features include an aluminum metal frame and a red sniper button for precision shooting. Let's describe the product and then proceed to the analysis.

The Vengeance M60 FPS laser mouse is Corsair's latest addition to its line of products. The M60 has 8 configurable buttons aimed at maximizing the FPS gaming performance. The dedicated "sniper" button is one of its most interesting features with the promise to help accurate aiming. Benchmark Reviews will be testing out the Vengeance M60 and see if it's a worthy buy.

I’m no different. My “gaming” mice journey started out with a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer; then a Logitech MX 1000; then the Logitech MX Revolution; then the Logitech Performance MX; and currently with the Logitech G700. If you look at all these mice you can see that other than the MX 1000 the layout and look do not differentiate from each other much. The G700 I possess I thought was by far the best mouse overall I’ve ever used. Other than the battery life, when in wireless mode sucks balls, the mouse was a perfect fit for me. The size, the speed, the button layout, the complete overall feel…it was amazing. So, when Bob asked me to review the Corsair Vengeance M60 Performance Gaming Mouse I was a bit hesitant. I don’t like reviewing products that I have a defined bias towards even before I open the box. I couldn’t see how anything could be as good as my G700. Well, I’ve been using the M60 for 3 weeks now and boy was I wrong.

Corsair impressed us greatly when we took its K60 mechanical keyboard for a test last month, so we were anxious to see if we'd once again be wowed with its M60 "FPS gaming mouse". From a hardware standpoint, the mouse is top-notch, but as we quickly discovered, it takes quality software to round out the entire package.
Peripherals
Today we are going to look at the Corsair Vengeance M60 gaming mouse which is designed specifically for FPS gamers. It boasts an impressive specification including a 5700 DPI laser sensor and a sniper mode which instantly drops the sensitivity down to a low level to facilitate more precise shooting.

Last year, Corsair released the Vengeance K90 as one of two new keyboards. It was a big gamble for Corsair entering the crowded gaming peripheral market for the first time, electing to jump in with mechanical keyboards with the K90 being a very expensive keyboard. Mechanical keyboards were catching on back then and people of all sorts – gamers, typists, and computer enthusiasts – had their opinions regarding the Vengeance K90 keyboard. First there were those who scoffed at the idea of an expensive keyboard, the kind of person who would be blissful with a no frills membrane keyboard. Second, some felt cheated that the K90’s 18 macro keys were the only full-sized keys that weren’t mechanical, but in-fact membrane. Lastly, there were those who liked the K90 for what it was. For those unsatisfied with the older K90’s non-mechanical macro keys, the K95 is Corsair’s response to those criticisms.
