A headset of any kind is a very important accessory for your PC. Whether you are gaming or simply listening to music a headset allows you to immerse yourself in what you are doing on your PC. ROCCAT’s original Kave 5.1 headset was a huge hit and their mission with the new Kave XTD 5.1 Digital was to rebuild the successful headset from the ground up. One thing that really sets this headset apart from others is the desktop remote, which acts as an audio command center for your PC. Will this be the best headset we have seen all year? Read on as we find out.

While there are many firms that come and go in the PC hardware word (Vvikoo being one of them) XSR has always done it's best to represent the new guys as fairly as the more established. While this does give us a warm glow in our bellies it also allows us to watch future high end players grow from a small startup to something massive; Roccat is one such company. Delivering solid products at almost every turn and despite huge delays on certain hardware, they've managed to carve themselves a nice share of the the already heavily populated gaming peripheral market.

What happens if you take a good gaming mouse with a small design defect at the scroll wheel, fix that and add all the interesting features the previously launched products had in the past and more? The Kone+ Max Customization Gaming Mouse is born.

The company Roccat, have been producing some impressive products recently, although this is not one of their latest products we still expect it to be outstanding. Although there is now a successor to this mouse it was based entirely on this device and could quite possibly be just an expensive upgrads which tend to be a fairly typical ploy by many companies to get you to spend more money, as they entice you in with the entry model and then hope you like it enough to buy the more expensive model so they get you to buy 2 of their products. For this reason and others, we are taking a look at the original Roccat Kone – not the Roccat Kone +.

What does this do for you? Well, it allows you to use the Easy Shift on the mouse to work the keyboard controls and the other way around as well. Not exactly a must have in mice, but if you are going to be taking the Easy Shift to keyboards as well, the ability to use either of them to help control the other is full of win in my book.
The mouse in question we are going to look at today from ROCCAT is the Kone[+]. This right hand only mouse offers styling to the hilt, with some really cool lighting features that will allow this mouse to match with any decor or do things that will make all of your friends green with envy. Since I have the ability to jump ahead and check things out before I deliver the review to you, I can assure you that as long as you are a right hander, there isn't a thing that can't be changed or addressed in some fashion to completely customize the look, feel and functionality of the Kone[+] via the included driver and software you must download to get the full effect of what ROCCAT is trying to do here. That is simply to offer things in a way that haven't been thought of and make the time you do spend with your peripherals as enjoyable as possible. I say we run the Kone[+] through the gamut of tests and see just how well they did this time.

The phrase "German engineering" has always signified the absolute top in function and efficiency, and today we get to put that to the test. Hailing from the Rhineland, today we have a dual gaming mouse review! Roccat has sent us two models from their Kone line: the portable Kone Pure, and the full size XTD. This line of gaming mice are aimed at those for whom customization is king. As a matter of fact, the head line on the boxes reads "Max customization Gaming Mouse". With all of this hubbub about options, features, and settings that can be changed and rewritten, Roccat is putting out quite the order: gaming mice with interchangeable bells and whistles, and at an affordable price; the Pure is around $70, while the XTD goes for $90. Can they fill this order, or do Roccat end up spreading it all too thin? Lets find out!

Roccat are an extreme gaming brand who have forced themselves into the market in a big way. They are one of those companies who seem to be making all of the right decisions and it paying off. It all goes back to their roots of the company being aimed at gamers and being developed by gaming enthusiasts including the owner Rene.
Their initial product release consisted of the Roccat Kone; a mouse aimed at general gaming, allowing you to get the very best performance from your gameplay with a 3200 DPI pro-aim gaming sensor, a tracking control unit and 128KB of onboard memory allowing you to save gaming profiles and macros for your desired functions.
With the Kone being an extremely successful product for Roccat and propelling them into the very crowded market, we found Roccat developing on its successes and releasing the Kone[+] which incorporated a 6000 DPI pro-aim laser sensor while still keeping the fundamental aspects that made the Kone an industry leader.
With Roccat not being content on ending things there, the Kone Pure was born and offered the same Kone form factor that gamers love, while reducing the size of the mouse down to 91% of its original Kone[+] size, making it more versatile with its new sleek look and design while also improving some of its key features, including the increase to an 8200 DPI pro-aim laser sensor (R3).
As you can see, Roccat has relied on its roots and stayed true to it as they developed further upon some already amazing products, but with all of this development, what becomes the next logical step in the Kone life cycle? How about some funky new colours?
To celebrate 5 years of Kone awesomeness, Roccat have developed some limited edition colours of the Kone Pure to spice things up from the original black colour scheme. To add with this, we find the following colours being added to the range:
