When you first think of Sharkoon, the first thought that would come to mind would generally be fans. When you delve a little bit deeper into their product ranges, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that they cater for a number of markets, gaming headsets being one of them. The current market for headsets is fiercely competitive and so any new comers to the area have got a huge mark to step up to.

Recently we looked at the Spectrum 5XB, SteelSeries’ first attempt at an Xbox 360 gaming headset …. essentially their 5H headset with a clever adapter which allowed you to plug it into an Xbox controller for Xbox Live chat. Not to rest on their laurels, the SteelSeries’ boffins have been working hard behind the scenes to develop a new Xbox headset with a number of exciting features.

Many companies have been doing the cross over between console and PC headsets, and Steelseries are no exception. We’ve previously looked at their 5XB headset and wern’t hugely impressed. Let’s see if the revamped and bigger brother, the 7XB performs better.

Once you do decide to take the plunge and buy one, though, the decision gets even harder because there are so many different models on the market which are designed for slightly different purposes and will give you different experiences.

We recently took a look at Razer’s first attempt at a mechanical gaming keyboard which left us with mainly positive impressions. Throughout our review we compared it to SteelSeries’ existing mechanical keyboard, the 7G, which has been around for a good few years now and can be found on the desks of serious gamers across the globe.

SteelSeries have a long track record of delivering quality products so we were very much looking forward to reviewing the new 7XB. Now almost seven months later and we finally have our hands on it.

The RAZER Chimaera Gaming Headset offers wireless connectivity for maximum liberty of movement, features large cups for confortable wear during long gaming sessions, a uni-directional microphone with a flexible mic boom and an easy to use charging dock.

There seem to be an ever increasing number of brands trying to take a slice of the gaming headset pie, especially at the value end of the market where consumers are less ‘brand’ conscious. We hadn’t actually heard of Cyber Snipa before they sent us a headset for review but they appear to have quite a large range of gaming-orientated products.
