Human input devices (especially the mouse) are very much akin to musical instruments. They are both designed to take the coordinated movements of human hands and transduce them into a predictable yet marvelous output. For instruments the output are sound waves, but on a computer the output can be any imaginable manipulation of a virtual world. In both cases the benchmarks for quality are surprisingly similar. For example, what is it made of, is it well made, does it feel good, is it convenient to use, does it work well and does it look good? With these questions in mind, Benchmark Reviews reviewed the newest release from Mad Catz, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Stealth Mouse. Based on the Cyborg R.A.T. platform the Stealth Mouse adds some style that, for this reviewer, stirs up some new thoughts about the future of gaming mice.

To start off this is a totally new experience to me. Yes even at my age I am still in for some learning action. Being used to review motherboards, CPUs and GPUs and cooling equipment, I had no idea how to approach a review about a keyboard. Being an avid gamer, in a past far away, I always avoided wireless input. Even though technology has come a long way since the dark ages, I am still sceptical about the lag input they could create when fighting it out on the battlefield. So let us have a loser look at this compact wireless keyboard with trackball from Vidabox.

The Kova is a new driverless mouse from ROCCAT, light and with high precision which has a nice futuristic design, like a floating car without wheels. Being driverless, all of its settings can be done on-the-fly, in any application, which is very useful, especially in intensive games like Counterstrike: Source.

Remember a few generations ago when civilization thought it had arrived once there were flying cars and lasers all over the place? Well I'm still waiting on my H.P. Hovercraft, but laser technology is so common that it's in just about everything, including computer mice. The use of a laser sensor (or two) is used in the pointing devices for extremely accurate positioning, and tracks on just about every surface. Regardless of this fact, PC gamers (and desktop jockeys) still look for high-end mousepads for their digital rodents.
