Today we are going to look at the Abyssus Optical gaming mouse which is Razer’s latest attempt at an ambidextrous mouse. It is similar in shape and design to the other mice we have tested from Razer recently and is equally impressive in terms of aesthetics.

What's the first thing you think of when someone asks you about a Razer mouse? If you're like me, you think about a high end gaming mouse with a lot of options, buttons, and flash. With the Razer Abyssus Mirror, they have taken a more simplified approach when compared to the rest of their lineup. With a laser sensor capable of up to 3500 DPI, the core is there for a solid performer. Does the Abyssus Mirror live up to the reputation of its bigger brothers? Let's have a look.

The computing industry, like many others, goes in trends and this is no different when discussing peripherals. What companies have begun to do is make peripherals that fill different roles. There are MMO mice and keyboards, ones for FPS and RPGs; there's also the simplified peripherals too. Today I'm taking a look at the Razer Abyssus Mirror Edition, a cut back, slimline mouse with high sensitivity. Let's see how it performs.

The Anansi from Razer is a membrane-based keyboard, with a nice customizable LED effect, over 100 programmable keys, on-the-fly macro recording and an unique feature: the 7 thumb modifier keys right under the Space Bar which help to perform even more complicated macros or can aid in various productivity applications.

Razer is a well known manufacturer of Gaming Equipment. Razer has a wide range of gamer
Keyboards and Mouse in their product range, and with good reason. The product we will
review here is the new Razer Anansi MMO Gaming Keyboard.
Peripherals
With Razer's great success in the MMO market thanks to the Naga mouse it was only a matter of time before Razer started to look at other products which could appeal to consumers who want to maximise their MMO experience and one of those is the new Anansi keyboard which we have on our test bench today.

"As much as I’m fond of feature-rich devices, dense with macros and custom binds, and as much as I love a sexy peripheral, Razer keeps me loyal with one simple feat: their mice--as this is my first Razer keyboard--never get in my way. They are extensions of me. Razer’s Arctosa keyboard promises that the same thing that’s true for my right hand can be true for my left. That I can puppet my avatars as though there was no input device at all."

One year ago Shawn reviewed the Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard, which bears a striking resemblance to the one I have in my hands, the new Arctosa. In case you were wondering where Razer came up with these names, both Lycosa and Arctosa are families of wolf spiders, just like the Tarantula that shares its name with Razer's original gaming keyboard. All of Razer's products are in fact named after predators, their headsets are all named for aquatic hunters, their mice are all snakes and their keyboards are spiders... I guess it's a Razer thing.

Spending a ton of money will buy you a myriad of features and great performance, but some of those extras you may not need or will use very infrequently. Strip away the bells and whistles and you're left with a boring old standard keyboard, which isn't good enough for gamers of any skill level either. Fortunately, Razer has found a happy medium with the Arctosa. It puts an emphasis on performance and style while leaving out unnecessary things like backlighting and integrated USB ports.
