Mad Catz arguably changed the gaming mouse market when they released their R.A.T. into the wild. With an unusual appearance and a previously unapproachable level of customization, the subsequent R.A.T. series of mice went on to win multiple awards and generate a lot of interest. Today, Benchmark Reviews has a chance to take a closer look at one of the newcomers to the R.A.T. line, the R.A.T. M wireless mobile gaming mouse. Does this rodent have what it takes to back up its heritage?

Mad Catz really changed the game when they released their R.A.T. series of gaming mice. I always thought that the mice looked cool, but because of their design I doubted that they would be comfortable at all. Well after reviewing Mad Catz M.M.O. 7 mouse, which is based off the R.A.T. design my mind was really blown. Not only was the mouse one of the most comfortable I have ever used it was made of quality materials and worked very well. This year at CES Mad Catz let us know they were making a gaming mouse for mobile users and it is finally here, the R.A.T. M. This mouse is much smaller than your normal mouse, features 10 programmable buttons, a 6400 DPI laser sensor, and Bluetooth Smart technology. If you game on a laptop this may be the perfect mouse for you.

I have little to complain about using the M.O.U.S. 9. It ergonomically fills and supports the palm and the sliding palm rest significantly adds flexibility to the mouse’s shape. Claw grip users won’t be left out either thanks to the ergonomically flexible R.A.T. shape the M.O.U.S. 9 is built on. No matter how the mouse is held, it’s difficult to access all the side buttons and sometimes the horizontal scroll wheel, but the M.O.U.S. 9 was just too comfortable for me to care. The two side button locations were perfectly placed for each type of mouse grip and the buttons were not too stiff, but not too soft to accidentally press...

Besides the interesting features taken from the "vanilla" R.A.T 7 Gaming mouse, the Albino Edition features a more powerful sensor, Mac compatibility and an interesting white color. Most of its components are adjustable, so we could spend little time to make it fit our hand as comfortable as possible.

A nice looking, feature rich and wireless compact mouse is one of the things i always wanted to "marry" with my notebook but to date i haven't been able to find the ideal one. Microsoft and Logitech have released quite a few (some of which with good specifications) but none of those actually peaked my interest (nor caught my eye for that matter), at least not enough for me to actually pack one of them with my primary Toshiba Qosmio notebook. I did consider using the excellent wireless R.A.T.9 by Mad Catz a while ago but its size along with the external battery charging bay were a bit too much for use with a notebook. Well it seems that Mad Catz also thinks the same way as i and so they just launched the M.O.U.S.9 Wireless Bluetooth Mouse which looks a lot like the R.A.T.9 but takes less space, is more battery efficient and is much lighter.
Peripherals
Enthusiasts know Mad Catz and their gaming-oriented peripherals. In fact, the company motto is All About the Game. Under their Tritton, Saitek, and Cyborg sub-brands, they've offered keyboards, headsets, game controllers, mice, flight sticks and other peripherals aimed at gamers. Now, they tell us, they've decided to offer a more "mainstream" mouse, the M.O.U.S.9. Although it's visually very similar to their R.A.T. series of gaming mice, the M.O.U.S.9 is more consumer-oriented. How much more so? Well, we here at Benchmark Reviews aim to find out.
