Today we are going to look at one of Plantronics‘ wireless PC headsets, the Audio 995, which boasts an impressive feature set that includes an integrated rechargeable battery. We look forward to seeing if it reflects the high standard of the two Plantronics Xbox 360 headsets we looked at previously.
Peripherals

There is nothing quite like playing music loud on some nice powerful speakers with a thumping bass. Some days however you might just want to give your neighbours a break. Headphones have been around for a long time and for most of this time were nothing special. As things advanced communications via the computer became more common and as such people needed microphones. Soon afterwards we saw headsets which perform better than using speakers and a boom microphone sat on the desk – for hopefully obvious reasons. With a decent headset your friend on Skype will be able to hear every word however loud the music that you are playing into the headset is.
Peripherals
Despite being a well established company in the audio market, Plantronics are a relatively new player in the gaming audio arena. We have been generally impressed with the gaming products we’ve seen form them so far, though, especially the GameCom X40 Xbox 360 headset which offered excellent value for money.

If you're an avid gamer just like me then you are certainly aware that October has seen the launch of three very special game titles, the long awaited XCOM Enemy Unknown turn based RTS, the DOOM 3 BFG FPS (special remastered edition of the original DOOM 3) and the Medal Of Honor Warfighter FPS. So it goes without saying that i spend quite a few hours playing all of them (except DOOM 3 BFG which was not as remastered as i had hoped) during the past 2 weeks and as i already mentioned in a previous review as expected i took that opportunity to test some of the latest gaming related peripherals to reach our doorstep. Plantronics is a company i bet most of you know but what some of you may not be aware of is that aside their quite impressive Bluetooth headsets they also manufacture surround gaming headsets and today we will be taking a rather thorough look at their GameCom 780 7.1 surround headset.
Peripherals
The Plantronics GameCom 780 is a surround sound gaming headset that features Dolby headphone & Pro Logic IIx technologies to convert standard audio to 7.1 surround sound. The GameCom 780 also features a noise-canceling mic that helps reduce background noise while the 40mm speakers provides stereo sound with deep bass. Are the Plantronicsthe GameCom 780 perfect for gaming, watching videos, listening to music, and making PC voice calls? Read on to find out!

If you’ve broken, lost or squashed the standard headset that comes with each Xbox 360, you don’t just have to buy another Microsoft-branded one. There are plenty of third party headsets of varying quality and some – like the GameCom X10 – can be found for less than the official version. Let’s see how it compares!
Peripherals
Having reviewed some of the higher end headsets from Platronics after meeting them at Gadget Show Live 2011, we better not neglect the lower end and vocally focused. With that in mind, today it’s the X30′s turn. It’s still part of the Gamecom range, but it only handles the conversation you have with your team mates or opponents.
Peripherals
Over the past year or so, we’ve seen a number of PC gaming peripheral manufacturers like SteelSeries and Sharkoon adding Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 headsets to their lineups, building on the products they have in their PC ranges. Despite not having had a range of PC gaming headsets on the market for very long, Plantronics are already breaking into the console market.
Peripherals
Recently we visited Gadget Show Live 2011 and while our article on that event did quite well, this one did a lot better. Despite that however, the real highlights of the event are checking out the hardware and one company was kind enough to let us test a lot of it. Not only that, but Plantronics were such fans it seems that they plied us with their entire range of Xbox headsets. Needless to say, we had to find bigger bags.
