S’il y a bien un domaine où il y a de la recherche, de l’évolution et de la nouveauté, c’est bien dans celui des souris. D’une certaine manière, c’est compréhensible, le gamer est exigent, il veut ce qui est au top. De fait, de nouveaux acteurs pénètrent le marché régulièrement, en fonction des modes, des tendances. EpicGear en fait partie, illustre inconnu sur l’Hexagone, voilà que cet acteur nous a envoyé sa Meduza, accompagnée de son tapis. D’un côté, l’optique revient en force, avec ses qualités et ses défauts, de l’autre, les « novateurs » et la course aux DPI représentés par le laser. Il faut choisir son camp ou presque… sauf qu’EpicGear a fait un choix pour le moins étonnant. En effet, leur Méduza a les deux capteurs tout simplement, un optique et un laser. Et le plus fort, enfin c’est ce que nous verrons, c’est qu’ils peuvent fonctionner de façon combinée. L’idée est d’associer les deux pour leurs avantages mutuels…pas pour leurs défauts ?? Let me start by introducing you to Epic Gear. From what I can gather, it looks like the company just started at the end of last year and is now in the position to offer products in masses to the public. I am pretty positive that during my discussion with SteelSeries at CES I actually had this mouse in my hands as most of the "wow's" and "where the rest of the mouse" comments derived. Now, I am a guy that I think has larger hands, and I have been told I even have sausage fingers. So for the junior model of the three piece series to fit in my hand so well, I was surprised to say the least. Since we are stepping down the overall size from the Kana we just looked at, I have a bit of bad news, more of the buttons are gone as well. What you are left with is the most basic of devices to run through the environment with as little confusion as possible, while still delivering top level performance even the most recognized gamer would like to have in their hands.

The idea here it to make a mouse that is small enough to fit in your pocket, but even more thought went into this design. Everything that we typically consider basic features of a mouse, such as the left click being on the left, or the right click being on the right, or better yet, a scroll wheel that isn't a wheel at all! The way Logitech went about things here will stand your previous notions of what makes a cool mouse, crumble it all up and throw it in the waste bin. I will be honest; there is more of a business market feel to this new mouse. I used it for a few days and while odd at first, it easily becomes second nature in no time at all, but there are features like its presentation mode that makes you realize that most of us don't have that concern.

Switching over to the keyboard we are about to be looking at should really be like changing the color of my T-shirt. By this I mean the feel of the keys, the layout and the keyboards functionality are all something I am fully aware of and used to using. This is not to say they are exactly the same, as there are distinct differences between this new sample and the G110 I have been wearing out over the past year with all of these reviews. With most samples there is a bit of a learning curve to get used to the product, or learn the nuances of the software, but since I have used Logitech products of all sorts over the years, the software side is nothing new to me either.
