Overclockers are one of the biggest re-sellers in the UK, but not content with just being a big name, they need BIG products. Something they seem to be addressing with the colossal 3XL Elite gaming surface. All other mouse mats are simply, smaller.
When it comes to gaming its important to have the right kind of surface for your mouse, not only in terms of how much performance you can get from your peripheral, as it is equally important that it feels right for you personally. Some people prefer the softer and thicker surface, where as I personally prefer the glide happy surface of a tough cloth surface. The point of this being there is no surface that is better or worse than the other, its all just personal taste.

NZXT is a company that we typically know for their PC cases and cooling devices. They have made a great name for themselves in these markets. Well at CES this year they announced a new product that brings them to a brand new market. The product is called DOKO and it is a PC streaming device. PC streaming and streaming services have become extremely popular over the past few years. It seems everyone is coming out with a streaming box or device. We know NZXT puts great quality into their cases so we hope they can bring that to the DOKO. The DOKO is also strictly a streaming device, you cannot load apps on it or does not come with pre-loaded apps. The DOKO does have some very unique features and we think that is what sets it apart from other streaming devices out there. Will this device become a staple in our home theater setup? Gaming mice can be expensive, though, and it really sucks to purchase an expensive mouse just to find out it wasn’t as good as you thought. The Avatar S mouse has been out for a while, but still holds strong because it is one of the cheapest gaming-grade mice you can find.
Not everyone wants a weighted mouse with a dozen reprogrammable buttons and a configuration software that looks like it was made by NASA. Those super mice repel the less demanding user, the one who just wants a peripheral that is superior to the model used at the office but that doesn't cost a fortune or have more functions than needed. Stereotypes can be quite hilarious. Whether we like it or not, we tend to know a few of these racial tendencies for every race out there. Heck, it doesn't even need to be a race. I can say the phrase, "old married couple", and a small list in your head would have already put out: McDonald's in the early morning, tea in the afternoon, and going to bed at 8pm. I can say the word "glasses", and already you think of nerds with no social life and terrible personal hygiene. Even certain hair colors conjure up rich stereotypes we all love to make fun of. Take blonde, for example. We all know that the main stereotype orbiting around blondes is they tend to be all looks, and no brains. As offensive as this may seem, stereotypes are what they are, because they usually offer some sort of truth behind them. From my personal experience, I have had my fair share of encountering blondes that are well, for lack of a better term, blonde. I even have knowledge of a few blonde friends that decided to dye their hair a different color to avoid this presumptuous and unfortunately funny first impression. So when I was asked to review NZXT's new mouse, the Avatar S, I simply could not stop drooling at the hot sleek design of the product. Taking one glance, one could very well say that the Avatar S has definitely has the looks. But does it have the books? Read on to find out!
The NZXT is a strange beast. On first impressions it looks small and light - almost too small and too light. But after using it for a two week period for review, I came to love its lightness for casual gaming, hardcore gaming or even just plain Windows use.
The DPI setting can be changed by holding down the left side button and scrolling the wheel. The color of the NZXT logo changes to indicate your setting. Blue indicates 1600 dpi, purple is 800 dpi, and red is 400 dpi. All in all, the NZXT Avatar S is a pleasure to use and performs as advertised. It feels very precise and the ergonomics are top-notch.
Peripherals
Back in 2008 NZXT released their first gaming mouse, dubbed the Avatar. Other than driver updates to accommodate newer games and provide bug fixes, NZXT has seemed content to leave it at that. You might ask then how NZXT could improve upon the Avatar's success enough to warrant a new product designation. Well you could start by replacing the 2600 DPI optical sensor with a 1600 DPI laser for better tracking on all surfaces. Then you eliminate two customizable buttons that the majority of users will probably never miss. Continue by reducing the switchable DPI selections from four down to three, throw in 16Kb of memory for storing of settings and profiles, and allow users to customize the LED lighting. Finally freshen up the aesthetics and slap an "S" model designation on it. Oh yeah, and cut the price almost in half.
