Up on the review block today I've got a rather inexpensive set of speakers from Hercules called the XPS 2.1 40 Slim. The name comes from the fact that they're 2.1 of course, 2 speakers and a sub woofer, but also because the satellite speakers are thin and they should fit on most any desk or any other place where space is limited. The cost is about $40, and for that price they are well worth it I think, the sound is very good especially considering the price. Included is an in-line remote for volume control, but it also has a headphone jack on it and an input jack as well so you can hook up an MP3 player or whatever and use the speakers for sound from that device. So read on to learn more..

It’s almost hard to believe that nearly a whole year has passed us by since my mid year roundup for 2009. However, we must believe, because it means that much has been taking place in our great big wide world and to no lesser extent in the much-fabled world of audio. Which brings me to 2010; this has been a time of catch up I suppose for the multimedia audio industry.

As a general rule of thumb wireless gaming mice are far inferior to their wired rodent cousins; simply due to sod's law which makes it run out batteries just as you're going for that important kill. Roccat are well versed in the wired sector of the market with designs such as the Kone and Kova warranting significant praise from reviewers and consumers alike.

I particularly liked the easy set-up and sound quality. These speakers are simple, with no fancy features, but they sound great. Although they have a few minor flaws such as short wires for the satellites and no satellite-mounted volume control, these can be overlooked for the crisp, clear sounds coming from the wooden cabinets.

With the 7H, SteelSeries has used a completely different design to the popular Siberia V2 headset meaning it provides a different experience which may appeal more to different people. There are commonalities between the two, though, including the 50mm driver units and pull-out microphone.

These mouse pads from ZOWIE GEAR do not have catchy artwork or fancy features, but offer what any professional gamer would want: very good precision, smooth surface and durability.

Next up in our coverage of Logitech's new range of components is the G510, a gaming keyboard which would look nice next to the G700 on any gamer's desk. The G510 is the successor to models such as the G15 or the G110 and is aimed squarely at the gamer that needs everything at their fingertips.
