Power Supply
I have gotten to know Sentey through their case division over the past few months. In that time I have looked at the Optimus and the Arvina mid-tower offerings. Today we have their 80 Plus Gold 850 watt power supply on hand for evaluation. This will be the first power supply I have looked at from them, so it will be interesting to see how they handle something besides a case.
The GX650 we are looking at today is the mid range model in a new series of 550w, 650w and 750w power supplies which are hitting the market this week. They are designed for enthusiast systems with a key focus on performance, while maintaining a strong value for money balance. The new design features a dual layer EMI filter and a large quality 120mm PWM controlled fan.
The NAXN, the latest power supply series from Enermax, is subdivided into three sub-series: the NAXN, also known as Tomahawk II, featuring 350 W, 450 W, and 500 W models, with no 80 Plus certification; the NAXN 80+, featuring 350 W, 450 W, 500 W, and 600 W models, with the standard 80 Plus certification; and the NAXN 82+, featuring 750 W and 850 W models, with the 80 Plus Bronze certification and modular cabling system (a feature not available on the models from the other two sub-series.) Let's see if the new Enermax NAXN 80+ 600 W is a good option.

In the beginning of this year, FSP launched its 80 Plus Gold power supply series, dubbed Aurum Gold series (which is a redundant name, by the way, since Aurum means "Gold" in Latin; calling something "Gold Gold" makes no sense). With models ranging from 400 W to 700 W, this series surprised everybody with its incredible low price, thanks to the unusual electronic architecture used. FSP is now launching another series based on the same design, featuring a modular cabling system and offered in 550 W, 650 W and 750 W versions. The first version won't be available in North America, but the other two should arrive in the North American market by the end of this month. Let's see if the 750 W model is a good buy.
This time around we have another power supply from Mushkin ready to go through our load tests. Last month we took a look at the Mushkin Enhanced Joule 800W power supply. Now we have the Joule 700W on the bench for testing. Being that the unit is from the same series and manufacturer, you would expect almost identical builds and results.
Today we are looking at the 1350W model in the range, which has a specification list to make the eyes water. The design apparently just missed Platinum Certification by a single percent, so it ‘only’ earns 80 Plus Gold Certification while bringing a proprietary fully modular design to the high end enthusiast audience.
