Today we are looking at a power supply from Aerocool, the Strike X 800W. This power supply is a modular design with 80 Plus Silver Certification. The appearance is certainly bold and dramatic but with such intensive competition today in the sub £100 sector is this unit worthy of a shortlist?

Very few of our readers are going to be familiar with the Thortech name as it hasn't been around very long at all. A few may recognize the name as showing up while poking around a few of the online stores, but probably didn't give them much of a thought. What most of you will be surprised to know is that Thortech is a subsidiary of GeIL. GeIL announced in 2010 that it would start offering power supplies under the Thortech brand. Since then, the company has offered two lines of power supplies - the Thunderbolt series and Thunderbolt Plus series.

The new EarthWatts series represents a huge step for Antec as these new units are their first 80Plus Platinum rated units to come to market. Antec currently offers the latest iteration of EarthWatts power supplies in 450W, 550W and 650W varieties.
Antec is hopping on the Platinum bandwagon strong with claims that the EarthWatts 650W Platinum unit can reduce power consumption by up to 25%.

Antec has scored a major coup with their Signature Series 650W power supply. Its efficiency, features and warranty are at the very top of its class and the hybrid modularity and easily identifiable rail distribution are welcome additions to an outstanding product. The subtle good looks belie the clever design features, both internal and external, that set this unit apart from the crowd.

Power supply units (PSU) have always been considered to be the heart of a computer system which couldn't be truer since we all know how important having a good PSU is especially if you want to feed stable and clean power to a really hungry SLI/Crossfire system. The good thing right now is that compared to 10 or more years ago (most PSUs then were but cheap OEM units) there are many quality PSU manufacturers around that make a wide range of such products aimed towards every consumer in the market from entry level users and gamers to enthusiasts and overclockers. Amongst the older and best manufacturers in the field is without doubt Enermax and today we have a PSU launched by their sister brand LEPA the modular 800W B800-MAS.

Lepa brings 1600 watts of pure performance to the market and dethrones the Ultra X4 1600W with their new G1600-MA power supply.

Today we are looking at the latest BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 10 1200W power supply, designed to target the ultra high end enthusiast audience with sophisticated SLI and Crossfire systems. We already reviewed the 850W model in the same range, so it will be interesting to see if the 1200W model can maintain the high quality we now expect.
