Power Supply
There are many components inside a PC which seem to be requiring increasing amounts of power as they seem to require huge wattages to function correctly. This is why the PSU market has advanced massively in recent years with PSU’s with wattages up to 1200 watts and beyond not uncommon. Most PC’s however will not require such a huge amount of power which is why there are many high performance, lower wattage PSU’s currently on offer. With this in mind I introduce the: OCZ Fatal1ty 550w PSU.

OCZ has made a very good power supply with the Fatal1ty 1000W. It's extremely efficient, the ripple values are unsurpassed and the individually sleeved wires give it a unique look. The fact that the manufacturer has worked together with Jonathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendell, once known as the #1 gamer in the world, indicates what the intended target audience is for this PSU. If you don't care about a little noise, then the OCZ Fatal1ty 1000W is an excellent PSU with 80 Plus Gold certification that case modders will definitely enjoy.

The OCZ Fatal1ty 1000W is a well-balanced power supply of high quality, offering great performance and a unique appearance. Considering its target group, it may not be cheap but it is not excessively expensive either. We are certain that hardcore users will enjoy the Fatal1ty 1000W unit, particularly those who would like to have a unit with individually sleeved cables but do not have the skills or the time to perform such an extensive modification...

Sitting at the top of OCZ's recently announced Champ1on Series of Fatal1ty PSUs is the 80Plus Gold Certified 1000w model with modular cables and very distinct styling. We have that very version on our test bench today and will find out if gamers should be putting it at the top of their shopping list for new system builds... after all we all need a new system with AMD and NVIDIA throwing out new GPUs almost weekly.

Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel has had his name and gaming handle splashed across a lot of hardware over the past few years. Today we'll be looking at his latest entry in branded gear, brought to us courtesy of OCZ. The OCZ 750W Fatal1ty Series power supply builds on OCZ's already solid reputation by bringing several interesting features to the table.

As a fairly young company founded by enthusiasts, OCZ have clearly set out how they see themselves, whilst also clearly indicating their goals and aspirations as an enthusiast serving company. Unlike many companies with ridiculous claims of 110% customer satisfaction etc, from personal experience, I know that OCZ do go the extra mile to ensure the end-user is content

The new OCZ ZX Series comes to replace the Z Series from the same manufacturer. Three models are being offered so far: 850 W, 1,000 W and 1,250 W, all with a full modular cabling system, 80 Plus Gold certification, single +12 V rail, and synchronous design with DC-DC conversion. Let's see if the 850 W model is a good buy.

Here is a quick question to test your IQ: What came after case windows? Well, vanity lighting kits that go inside your computer, of course. Back when AMD Athlon 64 processors were the rage among computer enthusiasts, my Cooler Master Cavalier 1 is equipped with two blue cold cathodes I purchased from a fellow American friend for $12 including shipping. It was really one of the coolest things in my opinion. I would stare inside, and marvel at the workings of my unique combination of printed circuit boards and multitude of fans working hard to keep the system temperature in check. Sure, blue cold cathodes look extremely generic by today's standards, and "cold" cathodes are far from being "cold" -- but the options we have do not go much further than that. The situation improved significantly when I got my hands on those Lamptron case lighting products in June 2008. In terms of technology, LEDs are compact and much more efficient, so it was easy -- at least for me -- to be creative with the color combination. But that's not for everyone, because even I have to admit a good amount of them were quite hard to mount properly. It was not until recently that chassis manufacturer NZXT finally came up with a solution to all these things. The NZXT Sleeved LED kit is a far more elegant answer to the usual improvised mounting methods employed by computer enthusiasts. Promising easy implementation for anywhere installation, how well does it translate to real life applications? We picked up three sets to see how it goes. Read on to find out what we have found!

By offering all of the common core cables together NZXT has created a sort of PC dress up kit for the majority of system configurations. The kit is offered in both black and white and if you need additional colors you can purchase the red cables individually.
