Now Corsair are refreshing their range of available PSUs with the introduction of the mainstream RM series. We have the 750w version on our test bench today.
Powering our test rig today is one of High Powers 80PLUS Platinum units, the Astro PT. The Astro PT is a semi-modular power supply rated at 700W, has an all-digital power delivery mechanism, flat ribbon-style modular cables, and a special LED bar on the rear of the unit that will display the units load and efficiency in real-time, which High Power have dubbed the “Eagle Eye.” You may recognize this particular model if you follow trade shows, as at this year’s Computex it took home the Design and Innovation Award.
Was wäre die Effizienzsteigerung aktueller Highend Netzteile ohne Seasonic? ein unbesetztes Chefbüro? nun wir wollen nicht zuweit vorausgreifen oder die Marketingrassel schütteln, aber dass sich Seasonic im Laufe der letzten zwei bis drei Jahre zu einem der innovativsten Netzteil Hersteller am Markt etabliert hat, ist wohl unbestritten. Insofern haben sicherlich viele potentielle Kunden auf die neue Platinum Serie ungeduldig gewartet und ihre Investionspläne noch etwas gezügelt. Die Konkurrenz hatte inzwischen vorgelegt und mit teilweise schwer verdaulichen Preisen sicherlich auch die eine oder andere Illusion begraben. Inzwischen sind die Netzteile der Seasonic Platinum Serie erhältlich, wenn auch leider nur in zwei Varianten: 860 und 1000 Watt. Da stellt sich natürlich die Frage, ob Seasonic es dabei beläßt oder diese Technik auch in Leistungskategorien anbieten wird, die eher dem Leistungsbedarf von Otto-Normaluser entspricht.
Abseits dieser Gedanken bleibt natürlich das Interesse an der schieren Technik und die Frage: was hat Seasonic im Vergleich zur vorzüglichen X-Serie verbessert respektive geändert? das ist auch exakt das, was wir wissen wollten, denn allein die Effizienzsteigerung von 80+ Gold zu 80+ Platin ist zwar ganz plakativ anzuschaun, verrät aber in der Regel wenig über den Aufwand, der dafür betrieben werden muß. Even though most European and Asian enthusiasts might have not heard of Azza before, the company was founded back in 1999 and is well known to the North American market. In todays review we are going to have a look at a unique power supply from Nesteq, the ASM Xzero 600W. Even though the vast majority of power supplies share very similar features, the ASM Xzero series has a number of unique characteristics ensuring it stands out of the crowd. Its most important features are the semi-passive cooling design and a patented cable connecting system. We will thoroughly analyse these features as well as the overall performance of this power supply in this review.
NZXT has traditionally been better known for their offerings in the low to middle end market where the bulk of consumers shop for their gear, and the HALE90 is maybe just a tad out of that price range. Not surprisingly then, NZXT has released a new HALE82 line of power supplies, in 650W, 750W and 850W ratings, that come in at a 20%-30% savings over their HALE90 counterparts. The HALE82 features a similar design, with semi-modular construction, single +12V rail and 80Plus Bronze certification.
Corsair's HX series of power supplies are considered to be some of the best an enthusiast can purchase. We reviewed the HX620W and the HX1000W months ago and found them to be excellent products, among the best in their respective categories even today. But with an end user limited by the choice between a 620W and a 1kW unit there has been a huge gap between these two products. In order to fill that gap Corsair recently released two more HX series units, the HX750W and the HX850W. Today we will review the larger and more promising of the two newly released models - the HX850W, a product loaded with features and boasting some very strict specifications.
