It's been a while since I last did a review on a Razer product, and since then there has been quite a few announcements regarding new products. Razer have hogged the spotlight at CES with their EDGE gaming tablet, which has overwhelmed the release of some of their gaming peripherals - but don't fear, as I'm reviewing their latest gaming mouse today. Initially announced several months back - in fact, we first got a look at this mouse at Gamescom in Cologne back in September 2012, Razer have finally launched their flagship wireless gaming mouse: The Razer Ouroboros. The Razer Ouroboros is the latest wireless mouse to be released by Razer, which is also the first wireless ambidextrous gaming mouse by the company. The Ouroboros sits at the top of Razer's product line, featuring all the latest technology to provide the best performance, so because of this, they have gone all out in both presentation and performance (and price!).

Once again we have another brand of power supply on the test bench that many of our readers will know little to nothing about. FSP Group has been around for quite some time and produces a very wide variety of power supplies for consumer, professional and industrial uses all across the world. Those that have been around long enough might also recognize the brand known as Fortron Source. We've been told that some of their latest power supplies boast great performance and efficiency, so we gladly accepted the offer when FSP asked if we would like to sample a unit.

Antec have been a veteran of the power supply game for quite some time and today we are taking a look at their High Current Gamer 850W (Semi-)Modular power supply. Antec’s High Current Gamer series was designed with a few key principles in mind. First they’ve opted to minimise the number of rails and maximise current going through each of these rails so most of their High Current Gamer series uses a single or two 12 volt rails. Secondly these power supplies are designed ruggedly with a gamer in mind which means the design isn’t subtle or even that quiet but is more “bells and whistles” with an LED fan and red-accents.
It is pretty simple then to see what the Antec 850W HCG-M power supply is offering. In terms of the rest of its specifications we can see it isn’t that advanced as it only has 80 Plus Bronze Certification. A lower certification level generally means more wastage as “heat” and thus a higher fan speed is needed and so this probably isn’t going to be the quietest unit on the market either. Already we can see that the Antec HCG 850W power supply is going to have to excel in voltage regulation and value for money to be a truly worth power supply – so let’s see how it performs.

Unlike casual users and gamers most enthusiasts, overclockers and hardcore gamers who are well aware about the benefits of owning a high quality and performance power supply unit put much effort into finding the right one to cover their needs. Now although I’ve seen and tested pretty much every 80Plus Gold Certified PSU out there the same does not apply for Platinum ones and since quite a few have asked today we will be taking a closer look at one of the top rated power supply units in the market today which is no other than the latest ToughPower XT 1275W Platinum PSU by Thermaltake.

It is very important to notice that Corsair HX750W, HX850W and HX1000W have nothing to do with other models from this same series. They use a complete different (and better, by the way) design using a DC-DC converter to generate their +5 V and +3.3 V outputs, like several other high-efficiency power supplies (PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910, Antec Signature, Antec TruePower New, Seasonic M12D and Cooler Master UCP series). These HX models are manufactured by CWT, while other models from HX series are manufactured by Seasonic. Why Corsair kept the same name is a mystery. In our opinion they should have used a different name so consumers would know they are facing a different product class, targeted to users looking a power supply with high-end parts and very high efficiency.

Seasonic's S12D 850 power supply is compatible with ATX 2.2 spec standard and supports the 24 pin ATX power connector by default. Seasonic rates the the +3.3V and +5V rails for 24 Amps and 30 Amps respectively, for a total combined output of 150W. There are two +12V lines, each can output 70 Amps for a combined output of 840W.

We've already reviewed a power supply from the newcomer Amacrox (Free Style 85PLUS 650 W), which proved to be a product with an outstanding cost/benefit ratio. Let's see if their Free Earth 85PLUS 650 W model is also a good buy.
