Today we bring you the review of the latest and highly anticipated Corsair PSU; the TX950W. We reviewed many units of this series in the past, such as the TX850W and the TX650W, and they always were able to deliver an awesome price to performance ratio to potential customers. The company claims that the TX950W can deliver best-in-class performance at a very reasonable price.
The latest power supply from Corsair, TX950W, is a single-rail power supply featuring a DC-DC converter on its secondary, which is the preferred design to achieve high-efficiency nowadays. Differently from models from HX series, TX950W does not have a modular cabling system. Let's see whether this is a good power supply or not.
When it comes to the absolute best when balancing price and performance, a few units come to mind, among them Corsair's TX750W was definitely among those at the front of the pack. Today we add Corsair's TX850W to that list. The 850W priced in the lower $100 dollar range and only slightly more expensive than the TX750W falls in a sweet spot. For those needing just a little bit more power than the TX750W offers, but not a full 1000W, the TX850W answers the call. Even those who don't necessarily need 850W of power should consider the TX850W. There are only a small number of units which match Corsair's TX line offerings in terms of performance and especially at its asking price point.

Back in 2008, Corsair launched the TX series of power supplies. It was an instant success and a power supply that many still love today. It provided plenty of power for gamers and enthusiasts and did so without breaking the bank. The TX series also offered great connector availability and longer cables for those with larger cases and those that routed cables to keep them from being seen. Corsair has been updating several of their power supply series and the TX series is the latest in the line of refreshments.
Corsair owes much of that reputation to their TX power supply series, which were designed to offer great electrical performance at the best possible price to performance ratio. Today we are going to have a have a look at a power supply from their updated version of the TX series, the TX850 V2 unit.
Let's take a look at the revamped Corsair TX850 power supply, dubbed TX850 V2, now featuring a DC-DC design and 80 Plus Bronze certification. It is important to understand that while the old TX850 was manufactured by CWT, being a relabeled 850VH unit from this manufacturer, the new Corsair TX850 V2 is manufactured by Seasonic, being internally identical to the XFX PRO 850 W unit.
On our test bench are two models from Corsairs new TX V2 range of enthusiast PSUs. The TX V2 range goes through the same certification as the modular AX and HX range of PSUs that Corsair use for their high end products but feature fixed cables rather than modular versions which gives the V2 a better price to performance ratio. Lets find out if Corsair can keep up their fantastic record for high quality power supplies.
