Construction

Enermax provided the ELC240 with a dual fan heat-exchanger which offers space for two 120 millimeter fans. The manufacturer makes use of a heat-exchanger that is made from aluminium entirely. Therefore the Enermax is able to offer this product at a reasonable price but at the cost a few degrees in cooling capacity. One thing that is quite astonishing concerns the cooling block with the integrated pump. In a very compact form factore there is the copper base plate with a micro channel architecutre as well as a 2200 rpm pump. To power the pump you'll find a four pin connector you plug to one of your motherboards fan headers. Attached to the same cable there are two more four pin connectors to attach the T.B. Silence fans.




Design

We did not see any manufacturing mistakes on our sample, and it seems that it has been well made which means that manufacturing quality is on an good level. On the heat-exchanger you see quite a few dents but this is normal with watercoolers. The manufacturer decided to provide the heat-exchanger with oval water tubes. Therefore they have been able to increase cooling surface. A closer look at the CPU coolers case shows that Enermax uses very thin plastic. When we removed the cooler for the first time one screw came off. We think that we have a preproduction model and we do not think that this product will be sold with flaws like this.
