Case

Overview

As we already mentioned on the previous page, we want to build a compact system and therefore we need a small case, which at the same time offers plenty of space for powerful hardware and adequate cooling. Lately Antec released the ISK600M, which is a great option for such a build. It only measures measures 290mm (H) x 272mm (W) x 340mm (D) and weighs 5.64 kilogram. Of course the size is not the only important aspect, when it comes to a case, especially cooling has to be good when it comes to building a powerful but small system. Apart from that the layout of the individual components can make things much easier when it comes to the assembly itself. The small cube chassis from Antec is perfect for this purpose since it offers excellent mounting solutions with components placed on two different levels. Also the cooling aspect is well covered since you get a 140mm fan pre-installed on front panel as well as a 120mm at the rear and in case. Shouldn't this be sufficient you can still add a second 120mm fans in the front and two additional 120mm fans on right side panel.

Since we are using high-end components it is also nice to check the space available for the CPU cooler. In this case there would be plenty of clearance so you could even install a tower cooler measuring 174 mm in height. If you prefer liquid cooling you can also choose a 120 or a 240 millimeter radiator based all-in-one solution.

Usually gaming system don't require enormous amounts of storage space, which is why there is no need to choose a case that can house loads of hard drives. Nevertheless the ISK 600 from Antec can take two 3.5" HDD in the bottom part of the case which are cooled by an additional 80mm fan and two 2.5" drives, such as SSD, which are placed in the top level.
