Conclusion

With its SandForce SF-2281 based 120 GByte S511 SSD, ADATA isn't exactly within the specs. Regarding write performance the values we get are slightly below the numbers the manufacturer promises. Also the read performance isn't as high as ADATA promises. Nevertheless we measured peaks which were 490 MByte/s for writing and 543 MByte/s were reached when performing read operations. On average the 120 GByte S511 SSD can keep up with the other 120 GByte drives.

We very much liked the delivery the ADATA SSD S511 comes with. You'll for example find a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch adapter included. Furthermore ADATA has a partnership with Acronis. Therefore you can find a number on the box which can be entered on the ADATA Website in order to download a free copy of Acronis Disk Image. This makes the transition to a new drive much easier.

If you should be looking for a well performing and competitive 120 GByte SSD which comes with plenty of accessories then the ADATA S511 120 GByte SSD will be the right choice for you. With a price point of est. CHF 220.- (est. EUR 175.-) it's also available at a competitive price point.

The ADATA S511 120 GByte SSD gets four out of five stars.
